I received a message in Fordpass that Ford is giving me Alexa for free for 3 years. I guess no one wanted to purchase it. I don't think I'll install it because I already have Apple Play with Siri that does everything Alexa can do, right?
Did anyone else get this offer?

I think many of us in the US received the same offer. The first place I ever tried Alexa is in my Mach-E. My only other Alexa device is my Ecobee thermostat, and it works well on there, too.

You can still use your phone's native assistant in your vehicle, even if you choose to activate the Alexa trial.

Alexa works ok in my car. The graphics/icons for weather reports usually don't all show up, but I think that's a SYNC bug since it worked great when Alexa first rolled out a few years ago.

I received the Alexa offer about a year ago but have no intention of installing it. I don’t otherwise use Alexa and don’t need something else to confuse me.

Siri’s my ride or die. Certainly not cheating on her with Alexa.

I like Alexa because I have 5 Alexa devices at home and my wife and I have various music playlists already in use. When we want to hear a particular piece of music or playlist we just say, for instance, "Alexa, play Pavoratti singing Nessun Dorma".

The built in Alexa can control the car itself; I don’t believe Siri can.

“Alexa, set the temperature to 74 degrees.”

Alexa in car is free for 3 years.

Since Google Home has disabled so many things, many have switched to Alexa at home, and this allows them to use it.

Does it give you "by the way, <insert unrelated item or sales pitch>" nonsense every other time you use it like it does at home?

I use alexa at home for voice control of my lights, shopping lists, weather reports etc. Therefore, I also find it useful in my MME but not enough to pay a subscription fee.

Just a note: while Alexa Built-in will do most things like change radio stations and give weather reports. You need to add the Ford Connect service to get full functionality, such as home control, podcasts, etc.

I actually use it all the time since I have a lot of home automation using Hubitat, and I have a Ring alarm system. The Alexa integration with the Ring alarm system is excellent. I can just ask Alexa to disarm, it asks for my pin, and disarms. Now, how much will it cost after the free trial? I am not sure if it will be worth it.

I have never experienced any advertising using Alexa in my Mach E. It just replies confirming that it accomplished the task.

Alexa does nothing usefull for me. 95% of time "she" can't help with that or gives me some weird answer to questions that make no sense and not even close to answering question I asked. I tried one at home, useless to me. Alexa in the car? Less than useless. Almost as useless as Ford voice commands.

Just for kicks, try "Alexa play Aretha Franklin singing Nessun Dorma" -- if you've never heard it it'll blow your mind!
