this pic shows a lock and release catch on the NACS side:

tesla usually locks on the car side and the magic dock locks onto the cable so i'm guessing there is some communication with the charger to lock in place while it is locked with the CCS1 side to the vehicle too.
Hope you’re right.

FORD TO OFFER COMPLIMENTARY TESLA SUPERCHARGER ADAPTER TO ELIGIBLE EV CUSTOMERS

JAN 31, 2024 | DEARBORN

Last year, Ford announced that its EV customers would gain access to Tesla Superchargers across the U.S. and Canada beginning in Spring 2024. As that moment approaches, Ford President and CEO Jim Farley said today that eligible Ford EV customers will soon be able to reserve a complimentary Fast Charging Adapter.

The Fast Charging Adapter will provide Ford F-150 Lightning, and Mustang Mach-E owners access to Tesla’s V3 and above Superchargers. Ford will start to transition to the NACS charge port from 2025, removing the need for an adapter for direct access to Tesla Superchargers.

For the latest on the BlueOval Charge Network – already North America’s largest public charging network before adding Tesla Supercharger access – click here.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that charger is meant for cars parking in the left spot, right?

So who else is side-eyeing that Tesla charging cable extension cord that was linked in another thread?

Telsa vehicles have the port on the rear left, yes. HOWEVER, almost no one else does. So, when the Tesla SuperChargers are opened to other vehicles, they'll be parking however they need to so that they can reach the charger.

At some unmodified locations, that will require sideways parking at times.

Am I the only one who missed the articles from at least May that stated that were getting the adapters for free ?
They were never stated for free before. NEVER.

"Eligible" owners, likely meaning people who buy a new 2024+ model.
It added that it would include 21 - 24 owners, by VIN.

Great to see they’re free like so many hoped. Wasn’t expecting that at all.

This is still only v3 and up Superchargers right? I think my closest is a v2.

ford: we'll soon be sending every ford EV customer $300, no strings attached
mach-e forum: but what if a string was attached? how is that string attached? how long is the string? when is the string coming?

?
I just checked FordPass and I don't have a string button. Can I get that through FDRS? ?

Yes. Only V3 and up superchargers for the moment.

Nah, more like “thanks, but we’d rather you get your shit together on releasing BC1.3+”

there will be unapproved Chinese imports that’ll do the trick. I’m just not sure you’ll like the results.
My theory is that you will have to register your adapter to your VIN. If the Supercharger network doesn't see an approved adapter registered to your VIN....no charging for you.

Not foolproof - someone could buy a Tesla adapter and then use a chinesium one instead, but why?

my other EV is a Y so I use both CCS and Super Chargers... or I did for a while.

There are lots of super chargers around and they always work.
There are lots of EA stations ... but half? don't work... So given the choice, I am done with EA... the last time I used an EA station, the stations were de-rated to 50kW... it even said so on the app. the ones that were not de-rated at this location were broken.

We take the Y on trips where we need to DCFC because there is no stress. I can not wait for my MME to get access to super chargers... it changes everything about road tripping an EV.
I've owned my car for 3 months 5000km and start my first"real" road trip tomorrow. Driving through British Columbia it really looks like the chargers I want to use are all CCS chargers, near restaurants etc. Many are on the Flo network, or On The Run, and are reported as reliable. Some seem to top out at 50kW, but I don't like to wolf down my food too fast at restaurants, so I think that's ok for me. The Tesla Superchargers in BC seem to be in slightly more remote locations, near nothing, or just near fast-food places. But, British Columbia is rather special that way.

Superchargers around here can also be quite expensive, up to 80cents/kWh (Canadian) for non-Tesla vehicles.

So, although I'm going to love having the option to use the Superchargers, it's not looking like they will usually be my first choice around here.

The adaptor depicted in the above pictures, looks different from the ones that are already available.
Is this adaptor capable of 350A or 500A. Will find out soon. At least, it is looking like we will be able to use the Tesla superchargers by the end of February, I hope.
Why would they make a 300a adapter for a vehicle that can only charge at 150a?
