my other EV is a Y so I use both CCS and Super Chargers... or I did for a while.

There are lots of super chargers around and they always work.
There are lots of EA stations ... but half? don't work... So given the choice, I am done with EA... the last time I used an EA station, the stations were de-rated to 50kW... it even said so on the app. the ones that were not de-rated at this location were broken.

We take the Y on trips where we need to DCFC because there is no stress. I can not wait for my MME to get access to super chargers... it changes everything about road tripping an EV.

This would exclude my VIN since Ford would not let me buy the 360 camera hardware. ??
We have the same hard tops. Obviously joking. I think original owner idea for eligibility may have merit or perhaps non-fleet owners. Either way it will be good for at least some owners. Two years now and I have yet to DCFC and only Tesla charges 350 miles away so I do not really care. We are getting Tesla chargers in town soon with NEVI funds so adapter will not be needed.

I was sure Ford would be making us all pay for them. I am glad to be wrong!

The most likely eligibility requirement I can think of that limits Ford's cost somewhat is making them available to current original owners only. But if they are very generous, they will just check to see you have a valid Ford account with an active MME VIN.

They could limit it by model year, but that will make too many people mad IMO. They either limit it to original owners or there is no limit. Everyone who owns a MME gets one.

That's a lot of adapters either way. Good thing Ford has deep pockets! Rivian does not have deep pockets so it will be irresponsible of they do the same thing. People who want it will pay. I would have paid for one for my MME. Still will if I have to.

FORD TO OFFER COMPLIMENTARY TESLA SUPERCHARGER ADAPTER TO ELIGIBLE EV CUSTOMERS

JAN 31, 2024 | DEARBORN

Last year, Ford announced that its EV customers would gain access to Tesla Superchargers across the U.S. and Canada beginning in Spring 2024. As that moment approaches, Ford President and CEO Jim Farley said today that eligible Ford EV customers will soon be able to reserve a complimentary Fast Charging Adapter.

The Fast Charging Adapter will provide Ford F-150 Lightning, and Mustang Mach-E owners access to Tesla’s V3 and above Superchargers. Ford will start to transition to the NACS charge port from 2025, removing the need for an adapter for direct access to Tesla Superchargers.

For the latest on the BlueOval Charge Network – already North America’s largest public charging network before adding Tesla Supercharger access – click here.

DC only since Tesla uses the same pins for both. The adaptor would be crazy expensive if it had to sense L1/L2 vs. DCFC. ?‍♂?
Not to mention huge to include the necessary electronics and contactors to safely switch between the J1772 and DC pins.

"It's by VIN. One adapter per VIN for MY2021-2024, so if you own the car, you are eligible to reserve an adapter."

I'm sure it will handle the max current the MME can demand, but the max charging rate is 150Kw per hour.
If the Mach E can maintain the 150KWH rate up to 70%, then the max current will be 375A.
I just got the HVBJB module and the software updates. Let us see what happens from this point on.

Interesting. So looks like people that bought theirs used will be able to get an adapter but if a person keeps the adapter they reserved when they sell their car the next owner is SOL on getting a free one.

Ford is finally doing the right thing regarding the HVBJB issue, and is giving out hundreds of thousands of free Tesla SC adapters. Wow. Someone is listening to us!

I know some owners have had bad experiences and have soured on Ford, but this will definitely build brand loyalty. And maybe bring a few critics back.
