Not sure but I was also suprised and I think I googled it at that time but all I could find was this generic article. https://www.wardsauto.com/news-analysis/ford-gets-out-dealership-game-leaves-dealerships-dealers
The article says they sold them all off. And that article is from 2001.

Anyway, what you heard doesn't make sense. And Ford ownership of the dealer doesn't mean the service advisor is completely up to speed on the recall.

Let us know what you find out when you talk to them again.

Just wanted to share my experience with the HVBJB recall. Apologies in advance for the length.

Long story short, I had the BEST experience with Malloy Ford in Alexandria, VA getting my recall work done.

I initially was just going to do my 20K mile service and software update recall at this first visit (just moved to town a few months ago), figured they would order parts and then do the HVBJB recall later. That was my plan anyway. I waited at the dealership for the service appointment and once they were done, they told me they had good news and bad news. The good news was that they happened to have the exact parts needed for the HVBJB recall in stock!! The bad news was that if I wanted to go ahead and get the recall done now that I would have to leave the car for 2 days for them to complete the work. (After reading some of the horror stories on this forum, 2 days sounded like a DREAM!)

So, I obviously elected to leave my car there for another two days and take a loaner. Initially the only loaner/rental they had available was an ICE vehicle and I would have to not only go to the gas station but pay for the gas without reimbursement. I haven't been to a gas station in nearly 2 years and especially with all the carjackings and things happening primarily at the gas stations around here (Washington DC area)--just nope. But the service manager overheard this and he seemed to want to be abundantly cautious--in case the recall work took longer than the two days they anticipated--so he got a demo Mach E off the sales lot and switched out the plates and let me have that for my loaner. I didn't mind charging it up since it's reasonably cheap at my apartment. And it wasn't just any Mach-E either, he got me a GT Performance Edition. SO. MUCH. FUN. I mean I love my Premium, but this is on another level, I had so much fun!

AND to put the cherry on the cake, they stayed late that first day to get a start on the recall work and not 24 hours later I got a call saying it was done and ready to be picked up!

I have been absolutely blown away by this experience. So, to anyone in the DC area that needs to get the HVBJB recall done, or just anything really, 100/10 recommended Malloy Ford in Alexandria.

Glad to hear that you had a good experience with the HVBJB recall. So did I at Mossy Ford in San Diego. I just had to say that I have a MME GTPE, which, as you say, is so much fun to drive! I got a new MME Premium RWD ER like yours as the loaner. It is a really nice car with a smooth ride and great range, but I agree with you that there is a different driving experience between the two models!

Malloy Ford on Little River Turnpike in Alex (formerly for decades Jerry's Ford and locals still call them by that name sometimes) is an awesome dealership. I've sang their praises here in the past.

Their maintenance shop foreman is also their EV Tech (one of two EV techs they have).

Whatever you do, I strongly caution you to never, EVER go to Koons Ford of Falls Church. Just... don't.

Since at least one member has reported a lower HVB SoH after the HVBJB was replaced, I wanted to let everyone know that the SoH of my HVB stayed exactly the same: 92.5% before and after.

Dealer picked up car Wednesday and returned it Thursday after replacing the junction box. The dealer sent this video hfthl.mkvwa37.com/p/iIGbEo.html of the mechanic and my car. I thought that was very unique. .

Nice of your dealer to do that. My BMW dealer sends a video summarizing all work done each time I bring my BMW's in for any maintenance/service. They also give an overview of conditions of everything in the videos (tire tread depth, brake pad thickness, conditions of suspension, exhaust system and any visible leaks or worn parts.)

So not sure if I misunderstood my service manager today but I actually dropped my MME this morning for the HVBJB (proactive) recall that I had scheduled a few weeks ago and they mentioned that Ford is delaying the fix for a redesign. Left it for it for some other recalls. Any details? I haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere.

Long time lurker, first post here:

I was told the exact same thing today when I tried to schedule for the HVBJB Recall.

I wanted to wait a month or so to see how the recall work was going, and to let my local dealer get a few under their belt before bringing mine in for the recall.

Dealer told me that they can no longer order the part, and that Ford has put things "on hold".
They believe that there may be a new part being produced.
Dealer has no timetable as to when they will be able to order parts and do recall work.

Anyone else have any insight into this?

No real insight other than others are still posting that they are getting the recall completed. So some dealers are still getting the parts when ordered or at least that it what it seems based on a few posts. My part has been in since December but I have delayed my appointment twice. I have not heard anything official regarding this possible delay and there are a few fairly “in the know” forum members who I would think would mention something like this. Does not mean it is not the case however!

Today, out of the blue, I received a call from Ford-Lincoln of Queens NY where I have had my 21 Premium serviced in the past, inquiring if I would be able to come in for the 23S56 and the 23B50 recall to be performed someday next week. I informed them that I had not received the follow up letter in regards to parts availability. They informed me that Ford was asking them to reach out to customers to schedule the repairs. Upon answering yes, they were ordering the part and lining up a loaner and would get back to me. Based on past experience with them and their EV tech, Doug, I can highly recommend them

Thanks for the insight.
It seems odd that there are now 3 posts (including mine) where the exact same "line" has been told from three different dealers just in the last week.

It appears recent news over just the past week.

It's not clear if it's dealers dragging their feet and not wanting to perform the recall work, or Ford is keeping things quiet regarding the new redesigned HVBJB not working as designed....and its back to the drawing board again.

Parts not being available is one thing, but saying Ford is putting the entire recall "on hold" because they are being told a new part is being produced is an entirely different matter.

I dunno, have we had any failures reported yet of a car post recall?

Seems like that has been super quiet.

Just dropped my GTPE off for the recall. They did tell me over the phone the recall involves inspection first then they determine if the part needs to be replaced. After talking to the service manager when I dropped off the car I told them this was a mandated NHTSA requiring the part be replaced. He informed me over 90% of the time inspection turns into part replacement on this part.

I took full video of the car inside and out prior to dropping it off after seeing someone with door panels that no longer lined up after the work was done. Also captured no warnings, etc on the HUD just to prove it went in with no issues prior to any repair. I was reluctant to not get a loaner as I don't need one, but loaners tend to bump you higher up in priority since you have a vehicle in your possession while repairs are being performed. I did not do this last time I had my F-150 Lightning in for warranty work. They sat on my truck for 2 full months without doing anything since I didn't have a loaner in my possession. There was no excuse for that and I will never go to that dealer again after buying 4 cars from them.

Will report back on my experience after the work is done.
