I've driven it about 30 miles and ... boy did it confirm that I bought the right EV.

It drives fine - but as many reviews have said (and I now have experienced)...
  1. It feels cheap. The materials, the "tinny" sound inside, so much shiny plastic.
  2. It lacks comfort - the Mach-E seats really much more substantial in comparison.
  3. UI **SUCKS** in almost every aspect. Fonts, graphics, icons - it's cumbersome, completely non-intuitive. I was able to just "go" with the Ford Sync but this took a while to get comfortable with.
  4. It's a lot smaller - both in terms of how it feels and in the space in the back.
  5. Driving assistance doesn't hold a candle to blue cruise.
I'm sure I'll find more things I dislike and maybe a few that I like in the next day that I have it - but I feel like I made the better choice for me and am feeling a little more validated now ;)

Even if it had a wonderful personality…… I can’t get past the looks. Which makes me sad. Hyundai, Kia and Genesis know how to make good looking cars.

Which trim do you have? The GT-Line would be the trim level to compare your Premium to.

I test drove a EV 6 GT, and even though it is objectively quicker, and faster than my GTPE, my butt dyno couldn’t really tell the difference 0-60. Also, the interior felt like a Kia. A very nice Kia, but a Kia all the same. I can validate the OPs feelings.

Sounds exactly like the experience I had with the Avis Hyundai Ionic 5 I had. I was very underwhelmed.

Right. Most of these car rental agencies have the cheapest fleet models.

If I rented a Mach-E Select, I'd be complaining about the poor audio, cheap interior (non power-adjustable seats), slow acceleration (if RWD), lack of sunroof and heated seats/wheel.

Completely agree, I went to buy a EV6 GT (not the GT-Line) as an upgrade from my 2021 premium. Went and traded for a GTPE two weeks later

I really liked the ev6 interior, at least in the gt line. I really loved the HUD, I wish the mach e had that. The ambient lighting was great too. I like the exterior too, equal to the mach e.

I almost bought one until Ford dropped prices. Suddenly the mach e was $8k less than a similarly equipped ev6. I liked the ev6 better when they were priced the same but I didn't like it $8k more.

I'll be curious to hear comparos with the EV 9 that's showing up now. Admit I always really liked the looks of the EV6.

I test drove an EV9 GT-Line a couple of weeks ago. I've gotta say, I was impressed. But even with the current $5000 customer cash, it's too expensive. I'm hoping the EV price dropping trend hits it soon and Kia adds another $5000 incentive. Though, Tesla is raising the Model Y price soon, so maybe we've hit bottom.

Never had an EV6 as a rental, but I did have a Subaru Solterra once - probably the most pathetic excuse of an EV I’ve ever driven.

My first impression of the dealership —and I’m trying to be very kind here,— but it felt like going into one of those stereotypical 50s used car dealerships.?

My first impressions of the EV were very nice. The green and tan interior was very appealing to the eye until you started looking at the fit and finish….aaaah mmmm … cheap. Sorry Kia you are interiors are cheap and really surprising on a high-end premium car.?
as far as performance, I’ll bet the car can really do it. Unfortunately, the test drive that we took were on back roads because the salesman supervising our drive said it would keep us out of traffic. (note to salesman: instant nonstarter)

Our overall experience at the dealership really turned us off to the Kia…. maybe other people dig the idea of having to ring a big 30 inch gong when you buy a car from them, but not us ?☸?

The model I had wasn’t GT line but did have power seats, heated seats and steering wheel, no HUD.

After 150 miles I will say the drive was nice- great acceleration especially in sport mode. But hitting bumps on the road I felt a lot of rattles (only 2k miles on it). The steering wasn’t as “tight” as my MachE.

Coming home to my MachE and I did notice the difference in acceleration- but also the fit, finish, tightness, and overall ride are so much better (and I have 7.5k miles). Oh and the interface and usability - not just because it’s familiar, it felt more “premium”

Glad I had the chance to spend time with one. Another person at the hotel had an EV5 and while that looked better on the outside, the driver (also a rental) said he hated the UI too.

I got a Solterra once as a loaner from a Subaru dealer. I didn't even know this car existed. But I thought the ride quality was pretty good, it had the usual EV quickness, and it had a 'power meter' which I wish the MME had ..
It mostly just felt and looked like a typical ICE car that happened to be electric

Where did you get the idea it was a “high end premium car?”

It’s basically the same price as a Sportage PHeV. Which I also wouldn’t call “high end” nor “premium.”
