I'm moving my Mach-E to my new home in Portland, OR on May 10th, so a nice Dallas > Portland 2035 mile trip. It looks like there's enough EA coverage on my route but if one station is down I could be in a world of hurt.

I think I got my order in early enough for the NACS adapter from Ford to get to me, but I don't recall what their estimate was. Would it be worth just getting the A2ZEV adapter and selling the Ford official one (or vice versa) when it arrives?

When I read the title, my first thought was "I'm surprised you could find 3 V3 stations in a row for a 500 mile drive". But then I read "California".
If you look at the supercharger map, you could find 3 superchargers or more in a row all down I-95, I-75 and I-10.

Because the adapter does not lock to your vehicle while charging, I am prepared for a stolen adapter incident while unattended charging is taking place.

So I got the A2Z as a "backup" to my upcoming complimentary Ford adapter just in case while on a road trip.

Have you planned the route use ABRP? I did it just to see what results I would get and you'd be in a very good position if you had the adapter. You'd would several EA/EvGo/CP chargers but from the looks of things, the majority of your stops would be superchargers. And the good thing on that route is that the EA/EvGo/CP chargers are very close to the superchargers, so if one of those is full or working, you could plausibly make to a supercharger.

From what I am told by other Tesla drivers, the app shows available chargers but not parking stalls.

Yes, it was a bit confusing for Tesla drivers that were trying pull in and charge while I was charging.

I took up the right side of the charger while a Tesla on my left would try to back into it and I would have to tell them that I am using it.

Another Tesla driver, pulls up on the right side and looks puzzled as the space is taken....

Weird I know...
If you're going to be doing that much, might help to get an orange cone to place there while "blocking" the other side to Teslas. Although maybe not a great idea since it's actually good for other Ford/Rivians to park in that spot if any show up.

If you're going the I-80 route through Wyoming, be careful - that Rock Springs EA station still isn't open yet. And the Supercharger there is only V2 (unusable to us). It's a 212 mile gap between Rawlins and Evanston on either side. That's really stretching it in a Mach-E, especially at the 80 MPH speed limit in often-windy Wyoming.

The Rock Springs EA station is *supposed* to open sometime this Spring (it's all done, just waiting on the power company to activate service). It's been that way for 9 months, but the transformer finally showed up in Feb. Might be open by May 10, but check the status.

Great suggestion. I ordered one and if I was using it would hang around and let other Ford/Rivian owners know it's available if they show up.

That's good to know! I haven't done a full route plan yet, but I am stopping in Denver to see a friend and then popping over to SLC to drop some stuff off and it looks like there are a fair number of options along the route I'm considering.

My wife actually ended up on that stretch of freeway through Wyoming during a snowstorm at night trying to get to me in Denver, and she's still salty about it.

That's a fair point. I went ahead and ordered one, and good thing I did because the current shipping window is pushing it awful close to my departure date. Fingers crossed it shows up.

I have a Lectron NACS CCS adapter on it's way.

Was going to return since the order has been over 4 weeks now.
If you need one sooner, let me know, I can sell it to you.

We live north of Denver. We do frequent trips to Vegas and to Reno. I-80 would save us an hour to Salt Lake City (then on to Reno) vs the I-70 drive. But we're still stuck taking I-70 instead until that station opens. Coverage is fine that way except for the flaky EA station in Green River UT. It *usually* works but it's a weak point with no backups close on I-70. But at least when heading up to SLC via US6 from there, Price does offer an option with two (free) 62kw Chargepoints at the city offices only 60 miles from Green River.

Locating a Tesla charger was not seamless while driving as it's not integrated with Ford Navigation.

Used the Tesla app on my cell phone to locate chargers.
It seems odd that the Tesla chargers aren't shown on Ford Navigation, since they are shown on the Ford Pass app.

Given that they are, why use the Tesla app? Isn't it better to see both the Tesla & CCS chargers?

I wanna see posts where the Mach E is blocking two spots, every other spot is taken, and Teslas are waiting in line and the post shares their facial expressions captured!
Yeah........but....but that requires the person to be alive to be able to write about it afterwards?
