As I think about it, I might look at what restaurants are available walking distance from CCS1 vs NACS sites as the primary determinant.
My biggest shock in using the Tesla network is I no longer have time to eat. I have to plan to move the car before food is cooked. I can live with that.

Until the Tesla Superchargers get added to the navigation, an equivalent CCS station might be a few minutes/seconds faster than a Tesla Supercharger.

I think some stations in Europe have tiered charging. Want to charge as fast as possible you pay the most. Plan to be there for a while to eat, charge slower and pay less per kWh.

Probably not very often for me, probably less than 5 times per year for me? We'll see.

You must eat really fast, or you call fast food places "restaurants".

Used our NACS adapter 9 or 10 times on one trip.
Used the Tesla adapter at the hotel because the Tesla charger was 1kW higher speed.

Restaurants are a place where people pay to sit and eat meals that are cooked and served on the premises, so yes, fast food restaurants are restaurants.

How many rushed to order free adapter, but have no plans to use it, in near future or ever?

For me, it will be rare but crucial.

We've got decent coverage of CCS DCFCs here in the Yukon and at the moment travel south into BC is... difficult. I'm making a trip over to Anchorage this June but the only SC in Alaska is a Magic Dock site anyway so not a big deal.

But BC Hydro is planning a bunch of sites in the far north of British Columbia this year, and once I can get south to Prince George there are a bunch of SCs between there and Vancouver that I'll be able to use.
So is there DCFC along the entire Alaska highway that you can drive the whole way up here?

That is what I was trying to find out.

I know I ordered it right off but really don’t have a pressing need.

I guess the first time I need it, the value skyrockets.

It is still probably worthwhile to have an adapter even if you have no plans to use it. It's also better to get it for free vs having to pay. When you trade or sell, the adapter may be "expected equipment" by the next owner.

I know that when I bought my MME in 2023, the announcement of the Tesla charge access helped tip the scale towards the MME instead of ICE for me, since I live in a fairly rural area and need to hit up a DCFC fairly often, even with a home charge to 100%.

In the Yukon, yes. We've got DCFCs in every highway community now. The big bottleneck now is Tok, where the charging options are iffy. There's an L2 that's used to charge an EV school bus there, but you have to actually book time with their technician. Either that or it's overnight where I can plug in my portable.

Once I make it to Glenallen it's smooth sailing, but it's a bit of a stretch from Beaver Creek.

You are way more adventurous than me! At least Alaska is being proactive with their NEVI funding so perhaps they will get facilities out in the boonies in the next couple years. Some sites should come on line this summer/fall.

There are evidently plentiful charging options between Anchorage and Fairbanks. Even out to Glenallen isn't bad, but I'm really hoping Tok gets a public fast charger soon. As it is I'm looking at a $280 combo cabin stay/EV charge for an upcoming visit and that's a little pricey.

Well not plentiful but they did add a few last year. I have noticed they are very spotty as to working or not. We will be driving the route this summer so I will get a feel for it. The NEVI sites north of Cantwell should go in this summer. Not so sure about those south. Next steps will be communities off the main corridor so Delta, Tok, Glenallen, Palmer should be high on the list. Of course Tok does not have much of a power grid. Some of the units that have been approved for NEVI are battery storage so low demand. That will work well for Tok.

Very rarely, I live in CA and there are plenty of CCS chargers. I charge mostly at home anyway except for long trips. A couple of weeks ago I went up to Seattle and had to charge 4 times each way, it was easy to find chargers along the way. I will likely just throw it in my frunk for emergencies, but still primarily charge at CCS locations.
