What do you want? A 150-word article that could be read in 30 seconds? We might as well live in the 18th century.
In the 18th century less than half the population was literate. In most of the world schools as we know them did not exist and cartoons were used to support or denigrate royals and politicians. A picture could be worth more than 100 words.

God, I hate Youtube videos. A 5-1/2 minute video to point out a single flaw?
What? Come on, people...
He fully tested 3 adapters from physical security to the performance. He showed the functionality of the latch on the CCS side and on the NACS side (where he showed the flaw), and he also a had a thermal camera to evaluate any overly hot spots all throughout the cable and adapters.

Also, a longer video allows for more advertising revenue for the content creator. What a surprise, huh, they actually do it for money!!!!! Don't want to watch that? Read biased written reviews, and take the risk in believing them, or buy the adapters and test yourself.

I have a lot of respect for serious Youtubers, who actually spend the time and invest in their own knowledge. They actually educate us, instead of the ones that only do paid reviews, or wait for invitations to the cushy media events..

My take-away from that video is that Rivian not only shows how much current the car is asking for and how much the Supercharger is delivering, but also shows a running total of the cost! It baffles me that Ford didn't think any of that info was important enough to show in the car.

Does it really baffle you? It's the only modern EV to not show any basic charging information.

I am really jealous of Rivian showing kw, amps requested, amps delivered, etc. The cost is cherry on top. Kind of a gesture aimed at humiliating Ford without saying "see what you can do when you are serious about software and don't order modules from 10 different suppliers?"

Has ford integrated the superchargers into the onboard navigation yet?

Warning - A safety defect has been found with the Lectron NACS adapter that allows the Supercharger cable to unplug WITHOUT pressing the latch release. This can cause a dangerous blinding arc flash if the Supercharger cable was pulled out without pressing the latch first. Charging will not be stopped before cable removal, hence the arc flash risk. Charging expert Branden Flasch discovered the defect.

It appears the NACS latch pin was installed backwards or has a bad profile, so the ramp is facing outwards instead of inwards. This means you have to press the latch down to insert the cable, but it will pull out WITHOUT squeezing the latch release. It should function the opposite way, push in, lock, and NOT release when pulled.

This issue may only affect some Lectron adapters. Please see this video for more information. If your Lectron adapter has this defect, please DO NOT USE IT and contact Lectron. This is a serious safety risk.

NOTE: This issue does not affect the Ford NACS adapter. Only the Lectron branded adapter.
This seems like a pretty obvious failure mode that should have been caught, either in design review, or product testing. ?

Lectron is brand that was making non UL listed/spec'd chargers that were advertising 48amps for a nema 14-50R setup and indicated you didn't need to hardwire it for 48a usage. They've since changed their page to clarify it must be hardwired for 48a usage, but that tells me all I need to know about that brand.

Hard to say if that is the actual flaw or not.
I watched Brandon’s video earlier today. I thought it just wasn’t quite clicking in. As in the NACS connector was bottoming out before the latch clicked in. But perhaps the latch was in but just not holding the connector in.

I believe Mach E vlog also had to press the button to insert the NACS handle. They never said that theirs pulled out easily though. So unsure if they have the same issue too. If it wasn’t them then it was State of Charge that commented about that.

Either way, I’m glad I went with the A2Z one.
Good point. Tom Moloughney from State of Charge actually recommends the Lectron adapter. And he is super focused on safety.
