Here's one I've never seen before. Last night, I plugged my car in and charged it to 100% because I'm going on a trip today. Before I went to bed, I checked FordPass to make sure the car had changed to 100%. It had, and FordPass reported "Charge Complete 100% 280 Mi". This morning, when I woke up, I checked FordPass again, and it reported "Charge Complete 100% 275 mi". What happened to my 5 miles? The car was sitting in the garage all night, on the FCCS.

I've noticed the same for the couple of months I've had mine.
I'm assuming that it's a temperature change from the 10pm-ish time the target charge (80%) is reached to 7-8am when I next look and am ready to head out?

I've seen the range estimate increase as well as decrease by a few miles as it sits.

I wonder what it would have jumped up to if you had set a departure time? I sometimes got a good laugh when I drove to my gkids house to babysit before school in the winter. I would leave home at 90% SOC, drive 10 miles, and arrive at 93% SOC. I was hoping driving during Northern Lights was charging my battery and was sad to learn it was just a temperature thing.

Not buying the whole temp thing. First, my garage doesn’t get that cold. Second, I checked the car around 1:00 AM.

My garage temp varies quite a bit during the day but my car is not in there. Also attached is a screenshot of my car from Yesterday and today and it has not gone anywhere. I did have to get in it and turn it on to update it in Ford Pass since it will not update Ford Pass when it is off but it did drop over 6 miles but the temp is now 67 and it was around 10 degrees higher yesterday. It is not at 100% but I have never charged it that high. I usually only go to 85% and the charge now is since it was charged last Sunday.

I've seen it go up and down, based on the temperature of the garage.

It's also going to change when you leave your garage, as it adjusts to the ambient temperature outside and your driving and HVAC usage.

Nothing to be concerned about.

Where were you going? Does the car have that route stored? It might be trying tell you it doesn’t want go there. It probably wants to go somewhere exotic, like Pittsburgh. :p

some of your electrons leaked out overnight. check under the charge port - sometimes they don't disperse fast enough when you turn on the lights and you can catch sight of them before they disappear.

more seriously, the BMS measures the battery pack cells all the time and slight adjustments (in cell temp, voltage levels, etc) can lower its estimate of energy stored in the battery after a charge.

Because the battery temp cooled down slightly after charging. It gets a little warmer after hours of charging.

Like I was saying earlier, I went for 100 mile drive and I got home. It was at 60% with 162 miles to go but after it sat for 20 minutes, it was at 152.

Thanks! This makes perfect sense.
