She seems like a diversity hire. Ford's been doing this a lot and it's reflecting in the quality and final outcome of the product. Had a gear head been put in charge of the MME, things would be much different. This is a direct result of the DEI push of black rock / state street / vanguard being their largest shareholders. I watch just about every video from ford reps and despite making up about ~3% of engineers, they've got several top spots held by women. While I noticed the unusual makeup of heads of departments, my sister who is a literal rocket scientist pointed out it happens too frequently and she's leaving a one of the large defense contractors due to such things. She's not even vocal but will ramble on about wondering how some of these individuals made it through school.

Ford is at the top of recalls costing them billions because they're not putting the best candidate into spots that require the best of the best. They didn't even have the sense to push for higher power hybrids. They try to do econoboxes (or 100k lincolns) instead of making 600hp+ PHEVs people would buy. Hell they under-rate the hybrid F150s so the raptor 3.5 looks like the top dog in power (it's not). Now after squandering the last 3-4 years and making a mediocre push on EVs, they're suddenly going to concentrate on hybridizing the fleet. Farley has got to go. I won't buy another ford until that joker is gone. His tenure has been a trainwreck.
Um, ok ... smh

I have the button on my screen ? Of course, I'm sort of far away from the miserable, awful place called HI ?
Yesterday the button randomly showed up in the app for me. It’s been great. I don’t care much about the screen button because I guess I can pull the latch twice to open from the inside. It was just frustrating when I was walking to the car and had stuff I wanted to put into the frunk but had no way open the frunk without getting in the car. Pain point officially solved!

Wow. You attribute Ford’s issues to the fact that a white guy is not in charge? That’s pretty pathetic, and usually the comment made by someone uneducated, bitter, and looking for someone else to blame for their own lack of success. I hope that’s not you, is it?

You owe the good people on this site an apology.
I simply made observations while referencing an ideology publicly being pursued by statistically relevant shareholders who control access to capital. I was in engineering classes at the same time some of the people they've got in control of programs were -- any guess on the makeup of the individuals in said classes? Total sausage fest, completely, sans a single class. Again, simply observing patterns. Yes people get pissy when you point out facts, but it was students who decided which career paths to choose, but it's the observers fault? Totally
Black rock and their ilk own nearly 1/5 of ford.

I've been self employed my entire adult life and fortunately haven't fallen victim to these efforts professionally (though I know several who have). As a consumer however, we're all subject to the results of these programs. Ford too is a victim of these efforts as witnessed by poor performance from not having the best people in charge of the programs. You can continue to consume the shit sandwich while saying it's the best chicken you've eaten, or you can call it like it is. I watch / listen to these unimpressive people every chance I get. They're not even enthusiastic about the products. Instead of delivering results, it's excuses. Are you tired of excuses yet? How's your bluecruise 1.3 released this time last year? Oh, you still don't have it? I own 2 current model fords, each have had 2 recalls with a 3rd recall imminent (as well as a few software TSBs I've self rectified). Don't blame the observer

Gen Z understands the game, that's why just over 1/3 of them identify as one of the groups these 'programs' aim to prop up. I simply want the best product and that requires the best people leading the programs. I'm blessed to have a family full of competent, intelligent women that makes spotting them that much easier -- and I put the blame of ford's poor performance squarely on "a white guy" that is very much in charge; his name is jim farley. I won't buy another ford until he's gone. I've purchased 3 in the last 2 years and have owned over a dozen. No more until I see real change.

Winters are brutally mild here.

To be serious, I was referring to those who got the remote frunk release via ota only.

Yeah, I just looked at the specs of the BorgWarner motors that the 21-23 GTPE has in front and rear (I think?). Peak power 210 kw per motor, so that would be 563.229 HP if both motors were going full out. Ford totally neutered the GTPE, but why?

It will be interesting to know what the specs on the new in house motor are, but I strongly doubt they are better in terms of peak power than the BorgWarner.

Sometimes when it’s a total sausage fest, it’s good to get a woman’s perspective.

They do make up half the planet and all. ?‍♂

It makes absolutely no sense to me that they haven't put all the charging info kW, kWh, volts, amps (requested and given) somewhere on a screen that doesn't require ODB2 in the 3 years since release.
Right? I've never owned one, but my impression of all the Sporty McSport cars is that you get all kinds of info on the dash. Tachometer, oil pressure, etc. The EV equivalent is what you mention.

The real issue is when anyone, male or female (or whatever these days), are promoted based on affirmative action or quota or who they know instead of merit. Sometimes it works out but many times it does not. I will say from my experience I did get really good results having a good mix of supervisors and managers when I was a VP of our local utility.

And sometimes people with certain criteria are just plain good at their jobs. Or sometimes you need a different perspective in the room.

What also sucks is when a woman gets promoted and people make BS comments about her sex and it’s impossible to get ahead without someone assuming that she got promoted for the wrong reasons and she’ll always have an asterisk next to her name.

Either way, this isn’t the place for this discussion and it was a horrible thing to bring up or suggest.

Gal? Are we in the '60s? You may not have been impressed with what you saw, but I think she's owed a bit more respect than that.
"Gal" is just informal. It is not the least bit disrespectful. Nor was it disrespectful in the 1960s. Take it from a longtime guy.

Sincerely,
Mellow phil.

There is no correlation between the excuses you just gave and your offensive statement that The Mach-E chief engineer must be a DEI hire. None. You targeted a specific person, and based on their gender, publicly proclaimed that her status/job/success was not earned.

Sorry you can’t now make it go away by saying “I don’t like the CEO”.

BTW, if you actually listened to what she said you would have inferred that they are passionate about the Mach-E, they are evolving it, but that evolution and their ideas are sometimes confined by how the auto industry overall is set up (car companies are more integrators than innovators/controllers of a vertically integrated tech stack - thereby forcing them to work within what is available from partners, and existing part bins etc.).

Back to you comment, which no matter how much you try to explain away, we all know you think it and you meant it - at least until now. The next time a thought like that pops into your mind - pause for a minute, and ask yourself whether it’s a legitimate thought or whether you just want it to be the case, in order to serve as an easy scapegoat for decisions you have made for yourself.
