My PAAK was flawless, but then got stuck in the "trying to connect" phase after some updates I did.did the new powertrain updates and all is well. The next day PAAK stops working like the last round of updates. Did anyone else have this happen again? @LeanneL perhaps?
Have you seen any improvement to the drive mode switching with the new updates?I don't use 1PD. But my drive mode was switching unexpectedly. I'll check it out on the way into town for a wash.
Drive mode switching has not occurred since I did the update.Have you seen any improvement to the drive mode switching with the new updates?
According to the notes I've found, when starting FDRS, the car is supposed to be in "Key On, Engine Off" to make sure that the "inhale" process is not affected.Thank you for both responses. One more thing I am not 100% clear on. When do I turn the car on, and do I just turn on full accessory, or actually press break and turn on fully (leaving it in park)?
My concern (and I could be wrong about this...) is that FDRS is for many models, mostly ICE-based. ICE vehicles have three distinct key "modes" - accessory, on (engine not running) and on (engine running). Our Mach E's only have two modes - accessory, and on. The only way to get to "on" is to press the brake when pressing the start button. I've performed all my updates in the "on" mode.According to the notes I've found, when starting FDRS, the car is supposed to be in "Key On, Engine Off" to make sure that the "inhale" process is not affected.
This verbiage is found in may TSBs, SSMs, etc.:
Important Information for Module Programming
NOTE: When programming or reprogramming a module, use the following basic checks to ensure
programming completes without errors.
• Make sure the 12V battery is fully charged before carrying out the programming steps and
connect IDS/scan tool to a power source.
• Inspect Vehicle Communication Module (VCM) and cables for any damage. Make sure scan tool
connections are not interrupted during programming.
• A hardwired connection is strongly recommended.
• Turn off all unnecessary accessories (radio, heated/cooled seats, headlamps, interior lamps, HVAC
system, etc.) and close doors.
• Disconnect/depower any aftermarket accessories (remote start, alarm, power inverter, CB radio,
etc.).
• Follow all scan tool on-screen instructions carefully.
• Disable IDS/scan tool sleep mode, screensaver, hibernation modes.
• Create all sessions key on engine off (KOEO). Starting the vehicle before creating a session will
cause errors within the programming inhale process. (my emphasis)
