Sto-N-Sho front license plate bracket for GT

I live in a 2-plate state and I did not want to install the ugly license plate holder on the front of my new Mach-E. I’m also in a car club and want to show off the nose without it. I considered several brackets that attach under the fascia including a motorized hide-away, which is a neat gadget, but I didn’t want to deal with wiring. I decided to buy the Sto-N-Sho bracket they advertise specifically for the Mach-E GT. The first one I received caused a “Front parking sensor not available. Sensor blocked” error because, as it turns out, the top of the plate was too high. Mary and Steve at Sto-N-Sho provided excellent customer service by working with me to revise the bracket and test a new design. The final version puts the plate lower and doesn’t block the sensor or interfere with BC. I will just have to be careful and use the front parking sensors and camera to keep the nose away from wheel stops.

That looks more solidly mounted than the StoNSho, which is one screw and an adhesive. But that is not as easily removed as mine. One spring loaded pin and it’s off in a second.

I considered something like this but then I decided that I'd rather just pay the ticket.

I've been running all of my cars without a front plate since 2013 and no issues so far.

Zero tickets. *knock on wood*

I do not want a single reason for a di** cop to start something with me, so I stuck mine on last week with 3M HD exterior tape (30lb stuff) about the same as "body molding" tape.

We've done the same on a couple Audi's so I'm expecting it to stay on there until I (or someone else) pulls it off. And on that note, I will add, its a lot more difficult to remove than 2 screws, even if they are safety torx.

I've got the Sto'nSho front on my GT but it's mostly detached in the frunk. If I need to I'd try to talk myself out of a ticket while popping it back on, or at least make up a good story for the judge about the carwash or something.

A couple years ago Virginia downgraded a bunch of traffic violations from primary to secondary offenses. It was to minimize harassment of racial minorities that would begin as pretextual stops for minor violations like a broken tail light. My reading is that a missing front plate is still a primary violation, but I see missing front and rear plates often enough that maybe the cops are rightfully patrolling for more serious crimes. While we were working out the bracket variations I drove without a front plate for a month, mostly on the interstate, without incident.

If we were allowed to use a vinyl sticker plate like CA I would pay extra for that.

I was asked by the dealer if I wanted a plate holder on the car. I told them no. I have friend in the state patrol . He said these days police won’t pull you over just because you don’t have a front plate. They have more pressing things to do.

That said I bought a removable bracket that is just held on using 3M tape. It has a thumb screw that holds the bracket. The plate and holder live in the back of the car and if I got pulled over I’ll just say I was at a car event and forgot to put it back on.

I also use sto-n-show on my GT. So far, no complications.

I live in CA, where a front plate is required, and it took 18 months but I did get a fix it ticket. I purchased a Sto n Sho which caught every time I had to pull in or out of a steep driveway ( of which there are many in my area) and eventually it broke off altogether, leaving my license plate looking like hell. I cannot recommend them.
