Touché but it was nice have some animation to enjoy. Hopefully Ford gives us something else in the future.
I don’t disagree.

I just think it’s fun to see how passionate people are about this subject.

It’s not like it’s a missing frunk button after all!

FWIW, my “hill” is the power limit on the GT.

I have had my car for three years and have never seen the speed in the center. The first thing I did before leaving the dealership when I first got the car was turn on every safety feature and aid it had to offer. There is no question these features make the MME a safer car to drive.

Dialog - Love it!!!! Thank you!

what gets changed regularly (in no particular order):

1. temperature.
2. Airflow - defrost; center; feet.
3. radio
4. Mapping
5. Music streaming
6. Fan speed
7. Seat heater

(please don’t suggest using voice commands - it’s just worthless tech).
1, 2, and 6 can all be done by putting the HVAC system in Auto mode, and then just adjusting temperature up/down without really having to look at the display. Same for 7. Most of the time I set those and forget it, rarely touching them for days or weeks.

3: Pretty easy to have a set of preset channels (including Siruis XM channels or AM) and use the track forward/backward buttons on the steering wheel to change presets.

4: I use Carplay to get Apple Maps. Home and Work are presets that are always visible, and in the upper-left hand corner of the display. I've found Siri's voice commands to be about 80% accurate, so entering a different desitnation than home or work is pretty easy. Or I enter the destination while stopped/before I leave.

5: Carplay again. I can easily browse playlists on the main screen, pick one, and then stream to my heart's content. And again, use the track forward/backward buttons on the steering wheel to skip songs I don't want to hear.

I also use BlueCruise/ACC/LKA so I can safely look down at the screen to make changes that require more than a glance at the screen.

But if you find yourself constantly fidgeting and changing those things during a routine drive, maybe you should go back to driving school and learn how to minimize such kinds of distractions.

It is truly iconic to have a centered speedometer. Most of the time when I travel, and am forced to rent a cheap ICE vehicle, the rental has a centered speedo. So for me at least, center speedo = trash rental car.

Perhaps this is the iconography that Ford is forcing us away from.

I always have lane keeping on, and BlueCruise ready for my long highway drives, so nothing changed in my car.
I've owned plenty of cars where the speedometer wasn't centered in front of the driver. All the manuals I ever owned that came with a tachometer were like this. My 2016 Higlander Hybrid has the speedometer to the right of center, just like in the Mach-E.

The signs are humorous.
That said, I’ll simply continue to advise not to buy a Mach e.
I'm surprised you haven't sold yours already, and announced your departure from this forum like others have.

Really? That's what it looks like? None of us have ever seen that before.

What’s weird is I just got this over the weekend with what was supposed to be an update to make sure the frunk is closed. I can see the speedo when I drive but i just can’t imagine who thought this was a good idea.

I too am deeply bothered by fords decision to do this. In fact, I changed the mind of 2 friends who wanted a Mustang. They purchased other brands.

One can only wonder w hy ford did this.

Oh, and I DEEPLY regret buying a Mach e - because of the entire user interface issue. This is the worst car buying decision I’ve made in 50 years.

Oh, I also sold all my shares of ford stock - I have no confidence in fords management.
All of this because of where they numbers are on a screen? Seriously? Sounds completely bonkers to me

I don't have BC and am highly annoyed at blank car in the middle of the screen, and the speed is partially obscured by my steering wheel position. If I do lane assist or something then cool, but otherwise it's just annoying and lame.

Welp, it just happened, although I had run all the available FDRS updates months ago, and had the best of both worlds, enhanced BC and the centered speedometer when I disengaged lane-centering and adaptive cruise, and I had a few OTAs after that, and kept my centered speedo. Got a notification of OTA for 6.8 today (which doesn’t contain anything for the IPC) decided to run it, and now no centered speedometer. I am very sad.
I'm scratching my head on this obsession I see on this forum with a centered speedo. For a long time autos would center the tach for manual tranny vehicles while the speedo was off to the side as most drivers back then focused on engine speed primarily. Today we don't even have tachometers and we're still able to navigate the piloting of a car. ?

Two years ago I bought a Triumph Tiger 900 motorcycle which does not have a numerical tach display but a graphical one on the main panel. The uproar from the rider community was deafening. I'm still able to ride with no anxiety or stress without a numerical analogue tach.

Honestly, the continued gnashing of teeth and rending of garments over this issue, here and on FB, is something I simply don't comprehend. I will confess that we always drive with lane assist enabled, where the speed is offset to the right, so this repositioning is not a change for us. It's also true for us that all our previous and current ICE vehicles have had tachometers which also caused the speedometer to be left or right of center, but centered or not, it made zero difference.

Having had experience in UX design and implementation, I can tell you that someone will always find fault with your design while others will love it, so it's important to keep in mind that you cannot, and will not, please everyone. And, sometimes there are design requirements that of necessity please no one.

Regarding whether it makes sense to offset the speed to the right, well, considering that the speed limit indicator is off to the right, it makes sense to put your actual speed adjacent it. One of the requirements of good UI design is consistency. The original design was inconsistent in that position of the speed indication moved depending on whether lane keeping/ACC/BC was on or not. Whether this change was made based on an analysis of feature usage, safety, consistency, or some yet unknown future feature requirement, there is no doubt in mind that it was not an arbitrary decision simply for the sake of change.

If Ford does requests, I'd love for them to move the cruise set speed out of the top right corner where it's blocked by my steering wheel and bring that a bit more more into prominence! And while we're at it, please make the 'press-and-hold' speed increase/decrease feature jump by 5 km/h instead of 10 (sorry, don't know what it does for the mp/h folks...). Thank you.

For some of us there is no combination of seat positions that allows us full view of the off center speed while not also being very uncomfortable. For a few, there is no combination of seat positions where they can see the speed readout at all in its far right position.
