Ok so are you saying a complete battery set for a long range battery is $26K?? If so that is not bad at all assuming the whole thing died.
Yeah, that's roughly what it is. For the extended range pack, I'm seeing $22,230 at my local dealer but prices vary dramatically and it's not like this is the sort of thing I'd buy on a web site anyway... No idea what they'd ask for the part and labor in reality.

Also, by the time you need a new battery, prices can be dramatically different on something like this. Will depend on Ford's shelf inventory, pricing from their suppliers, etc.

That's plus labor. I doubt any of us have equipment needed to lift these monsters. On the good news side, it should be covered by the warranty for the next few years.
This is possible of course only if the dealer is willing to sell it to you. Having had to buy packs from dealers for specialized testing in a few different vehicles including the Lincoln MKZ and Nissan Leaf, I can tell you it's really difficult to find a dealer that's willing to sell you a pack, and then only they will do the swap, for a fee of course.

Ummm, the US can’t even clean the entire world. There are countries that pollute at such disastrous levels and will likely never change their policies or regulations. It’s not in their best interest.

Honestly for me, convenience is more important. Call me selfish if you want, but it’s up to me to worry about my time and resources. I dont have the energy or capacity to believe that I can help change the world just because of the car I drive. I suspect that while some won’t admit it publicly, it’s the same for the bulk of would-be EV customers. If Ford and other companies don’t work to figure this aspect out, there won’t be a wide adoption of EV ownership. So for now, when I take a long road trip, I’ll either drive our Jeep, or rent a car.

Im buying this car because it’s new, full of cool tech and has some great safety features. Having low emissions isn’t really on my list of priorities. I do respect the opinion of others that rank that high on their list though.
For me, I look at what I do, multiply it by a few million and then ask myself if that would make a difference - good or bad. If I can influence 10 people, and those 10 people can each influence another 10, etc., doesn't take that long before the world can be a better place. Just sayin...

I think about weird things like that. I see one person throw a cigarette butt on the ground and instead see millions of cigarette butts. If I make a suggestion and he picks it up (instead of screaming at me), I see millions of fewer cigarette butts. To me, it is worth the effort, then. I know I have influenced a few dozen people toward hybrids, some toward PHEV's, and a couple (so far) toward all-electric. If I can see those as millions for each, I am definitely changing the course of human future. @DaveRuns, you do have the energy and capacity to comment on this forum, and I would guess you also do a lot of reading of posts by others. I appreciate your perspective and wish you all the best - and maybe you will share the cool tech and great safety features with others, even if only friends and family, and include a few comments in conversation about the great looks and how much fun to drive. And, maybe, without really meaning to, you might influence one person to go for a test drive. You never know, you might not be able to help yourself in your enthusiasm once you get your Mach-E! You, too, might be on your way to saving the planet for future generations, one enthusiastic comment at a time (multiplied by millions)...

Yep. That's what I was saying, that people like us that can afford a $50k+ state-of-the-art new vehicle surely aren't going to be making it our primary vehicle for 500,000 miles. It will obsolete itself (as primary vehicle desire) long before that.

And once we stop making it the primary vehicle, the # of annual miles put on it typically goes way down. And eventually gets sold/traded in.

If some MMEs really ever hit 500,000 miles, it'll probably be for the 3rd or 4th owner.
Our 62' pickup has been in the family since 67'. Aberation, yes, but one never knows, a first gen EV Mustang may have heirloom appeal.

Other unnamed countries are worse than us so there is no reason for us to do better, right?

The Mach E replaces our Leaf. I still need a truck. I'm still watching eF-150 and Rivian.
The rivian looks good but not for awhile and not until battery costs come down. I will trade the 09 and keep the newer one (wife's). Will be looking to move towards 2 electrics. One at a time will be good for now.
The modules and full pack part prices are already available at parts.ford.com.

This price is roughly right, but it depends on your selected dealer. Locally I've seen figures ranging from about $17k to about $32k (from a Lincoln dealer across the street from the Ford dealer), iirc. I assume this is just the part and not labor, fluids, etc.
These will come down and when it is time to replace the one in the MME they will be lighter (more energy dense) and cheaper.

Free shipping? I'll order a back up ;)

Not others; one other. We all will eventually step it up I hope.

At the beginning of 2020 I thought the electric F-150 and the Rivian were viable pickup trucks.

Then the 2021 F150 Hybrid came out. I don't think the electrics will be able to do this, so they will have limits.

Does this mean that in the future its possible to upgrade from a SR to ER battery, or is the structure of the ER cars different? Obviously this wouldn't make sense currently, but say in 3-5 years if prices drop. I ordered a SR as I couldn't really justify extra 5k for my little commute (40mi roundtrip).

California has the $2500. Here is the bottom line. Options versus a 6 year loan is not much different. In short it is just a matter to own it or dump it in 4 years. The payments for both are really close
Could you elaborate on the 2500? Is that the CVRP - if so 2000?

We need swappable battery technology. My Milwaukee Power Saw Battery only had so many charges until it's no longer useful, I get a new Battery and recycle the old.
