Ford NACS Adapter has shipped [and NOW ARRIVING]!

what number are we up to having received their adaptor ?

From what I have read they are still somewhere below 1,000 except that odd lot that was shipped out of sequence. I have not read of any other shipments since the initial shipments and everyone else received the delay notice. I am not concerned so have not been following too closely though.

yeah I had not seen any progress on the number shipped, so I thought I'd ask. I'm not too concerned, but I am guessing that my 'July' date is unlikely.

How about it @Ford Motor Company , can you comment on status of shipments ? are they being shipped, or still on hold ?

If there are further delays getting the 2nd batch from Tesla, seems likely Ford would wait until later in the month before having to disappoint people again. Like they did in April. That delay notice came April 26. (And that was before Tesla fired the entire Supercharger team on April 30, which probably made it even worse.)

If they have any hope of this not cascading further, Tesla shipment #2 better be truckloads. Not holding my breath though. Especially since it's not just Ford waiting. It's Rivian now too. One report said GM, Volvo, and Polestar are pushing back dates too.

It would not surprise me if Ford actually knew about as much as forum members. All of Ford's contacts on the NACS implementation team at Tesla got smoked in the layoffs so they've got nobody to reach out to.

If Ford continues to struggle getting Tesla's NACS adapters, there's some thought that the next potential step would be to work with a reputable third party company for their adapter. Might be interesting if A2Z and/or Lectron get UL certification.

Yeah, I think the highest number I saw was less than 900 or perhaps in the 900s (discounting the out of sequence shipments). ?‍?

Agreed on both points. UL should not be hard for a passive item like this. Submission of the bill of materials, mechanical drawings showing clearances, samples for measurement and possible drop test (unlikely the drop test would be necessary), HiPot testing (and documentation that HiPot testing will take place on the line). This should take less than a month to accomplish and not be horribly expensive. ??

Yep. I doubt they really had a good idea before the Tesla layoffs either. Thus why the rest of the Aprils and all the May's just got pushed to "June", and everything from June on didn't get updated at all because they really don't have anything solid from Tesla to go on. Even before the layoffs, the info they were getting from Tesla was either wrong or severely lacking. Probably both now.

And Tesla is so secretive that we'll likely never hear a peep out of them on what the real holdup is, and when to expect production to resume/increase. I did see one comment from someone on X that claimed Tesla has a batch now waiting to ship but the layoffs interrupted the shipping arrangements. Maybe that's true too, but there were already serious delays long before that. Ford surely counted on thousands arriving in March to fulfill April deliveries. Then thousands more in April for May deliveries, and so on. There were over 80,000 orders with delivery dates spread out to Oct. And that's just Ford.

Ford's in a tough spot, having promised all these free adapters. They still need Tesla for access to the SCs, so I'm not sure changing suppliers from Tesla to A2Z would be a good idea. A2Z is max'd out trying to keep up with orders as it is, with 3-4 week lead times. Not sure they have the capacity to crank out thousands in a few weeks to get Ford back on track. Ford's probably just gonna have to live with the Tesla arrangement and the delays, and hope Tesla gets their sh*t together soon.

Seems like Ford could just announce what is now being delivered. ie 1200s, 1300s etc. We could make our plans and need to order an alternative.

By all accounts, the answer to that is "nothing" since that first batch on April 5.

I'm number 15,362 and just waiting for mine to get pushed back like all the others. Normally I'd wait patiently, but I've got a 1,000 mile road trip early in July so I ordered one from A2Z. When the Ford one arrives I'll figure out what to do with one of them.

I’m #19,000 something, so I ordered a A2Z

was supposed to be a July shipment but I seriously doubt that date because of the stuff going on.
