My time has come. I was in a Home Depot parking lot and car wouldn’t start, time for me to replace the HVBJB. Ford roadside assistance came very quickly and was able to tow me, unfortunately to the one dealer that I didn’t want to touch my car again. Not sure if it’s worth it to try to tow to a different dealer or just let them try to fix it. Hope all goes well…

Everything seems plausible about your story until this point:
Ford roadside assistance came very quickly

Haha. I was shocked. I actually had tried to get AAA to get me a tow for about two hours before I figured I’d give Ford Roadside a shot. AAA did send a tow, but their stupid automated system thought I had a 2001 mustang and sent a tow truck not fit for towing an EV. I then spent a bunch of time trying to explain this to people on the phone with no luck. The roadside assist feature on the phone app worked really well.

At least you will be getting a third generation HVBJB. Mine failed 3 months too early. It will probably fail again this summer, then I can get an LK9Z-10C666-C. ??

Got a call from the dealer today. Apparently my HVBJB welded closed. Yikes. They’re evaluating what to do about it, possibly needing a whole new battery since they can’t safely work on it…

That.... sounds weird. Isn't that literally one of the known failure modes of the HVBJB? And has happened to many people? I'm sure there is a "safe" way to work on it without replacing the entire battery.

Yea, they might just not know how to do this yet…

Have them get a Field Service Engineer involved. The FSE can get it de-energized. ??

About three months ago the maintenance lead at my dealership had a car come in from Detroit passing through heading to the beach down in Florida and it had the same issue, welded contacts. He explained that the de-energizing process doesn't work if the contacts are welded closed...and he refused to disconnect HV cables and risk arcing, even with the camera headset on and being directed by the FSE over a remote video hookup. He didn't trust the process they wanted him to use (which is apparently NOT in the repair manual). So the car was loaded up and flatbedded all the way back up to Detroit to the owner's dealer of choice.

Finally got the car back today. Field service engineer indeed set them straight.
so it took about ten days to do the replacement? Doesn't seem too bad, I know many of the people have had it done in a week. But having to get the FSE probably slowed things a bit

Yea, honestly not too bad. I think from the time it died to when I got it was 17 days. After the dealer told me they were bringing in a specialist it was kinda radio silence, but all in all, not too bad.
