Do you think the BlueCruise update is still coming to MY21/22 cars?

Is the Bluecruise update still coming?

They are going to need to other wise they are opening the flood gates for a class action lawsuit. Remember people paid for the service on the promise updates would be coming.

Wait a minute, didn't Darren Palmer say on a recent podcast that BC 1.3 has already rolled out to existing Mach-e's and would be rolling out to existing Lightnings soon????

I think what he meant to say is new Mach-e's are shipping with BC 1.3 and the Lightning will start shipping new vehicles with BC 1.3 in 2024 ...
There for sure are existing 21 / 22 owners that have blue cruise 1.3. They all just have NDAs that prevent them from talking about it

I don't know why they think any of us are paying the already absurd price for BC if they won't even push updates for it.

I have 1.3 and I can say for a fact that, while it's pretty good, it's nowhere near worth the ~$80/month Ford is asking for the subscription.

Supercruise is more feature rich for a fraction of the price, the only thing Blue Cruise really has over it is lane centering outside of mapped roads (including working without the subscription). GM could/should easily add that to theirs. Ford is insane to be asking as much as they are for Blue Cruise with how few roads it supports hands-free compared to the competition

How's it working for you?

Sadly I am not one of the few. I just know that there are some out there.
Beyond Ford employees? If so, they must be a tiny number or it would have leaked by now.

I think they'll update it...eventually. A lot of owners will let their BC subscription lapse until 1.3+ goes out.

Ford will probably take a page out of Tesla's playbook and offer a free trial to owners with lapsed subscriptions to encourage uptake.
It better be another 3 years at that point. 90 days won't hack it.

My subscription runs out May 2025. BC 1.5 (or whatever version it will be) will therefore be released on June 1st, 2025.?

From my perspective, you can see more 21’ and 22’s getting updated every day. I believe the early problems were related to over 30,000 different software configurations in the wild. That mess cannot be updated without consequence. Bricking cars is really bad for sales. Slow updates is only moderately annoying. I still believe it is coming.

The closer I get to the end of my 3-year BC term, the less I care about this upgrade. There's zero chance I'll pay for it after they quadrupled the price last year.

If Ford decides to be ethical about this and honor the BC pricing that was in place when I bought the car, then I'd be a lot more interested in this upgrade and the idea of paying $200/yr. But honestly, this situation makes me salty enough to pick a different brand for my next car.

During the ensuing year of "soon" people have made the BC 1.4 upgrade into something amazing and wonderful. I fear they're in a world of hurt when they find out it's just an incremental upgrade. Yes, for BC 1.0 users, it adds lane change and covers more curves on the freeway but it's not transformative.

I fear an even bigger backlash when it does rollout to the mass population where people say, "I waited this long for this?"

Can you point out where they promise an upgrade is coming in the contract? I pay for the Blue Cruise service but I can't recall it saying that they would upgrade it.

There are no job 1 owners with BC 1.3. But there are some with 1.4.

The word "Promise" is overused and overly strong, but I direct you to this post from July 13th 2023 in which it was stated specifically, or one of the many times Darren Palmer or Jim Farley has said it in interviews. The relevant portion of the post from the Ford-official account (emphasis added):
Mustang Mach-E customers with model years 2021-2023 equipped with BlueCruise can receive the update to BlueCruise 1.3 via a Ford Power-Up software update once it starts to roll out to vehicles later this summer.. This means that vehicles with BlueCruise 1.0 and 1.2 will be updated to BlueCruise 1.3.

There are no job 1 owners with BC 1.3. But there are some with 1.4.
Some with Job 1 cars in the Early Access program have gotten it as beta testers.
