Climate HEAT always on at start-up?

Noticed that the HEAT is selected in the climate menu after first start-up of the day. I’ve read all types of possible reasons why. However, living in the desert with a morning garage temp of 98F (and ambient outside temp at 82F) and humidity at 7%, I’m pretty sure the last setting needed is heat for me, heat for the battery, or heat to de-humidify the cabin.
@Ford Motor Company can you please disable this automatically when ambient temp, humidity, and battery state do not require heat?
From my readings, having HEAT selected draws power and decreases range. Something I definitely do NOT need in the summer given my environment. And I have to go into climate each start-up and deselect this.

And if that’s the case, is that factoring into overall range calculation? It appears turning heat off after driving increased range on a roadway/speed that was constant.

Interesting, thank you! I will stop obsessively checking to see if the heat is “on.” I thought it was actually running (at the same time as the AC), and unnecessarily burning through mileage.

What I want to know is why heated seat and steering wheel are on when I remote start the car. (Probably in a setting somewhere)

As stated, enabled doesn't mean it's actually on or using power. If it's 98ºF out it's obviously not going to use any heater.

Just ignore it and use the AUTO setting for optimal efficiency.

I have a twist to add. I am in Florida so, actual heating is not the issue. However, my heat does a similar thing- in that it randomly turns itself on. I can turn it off and check 5 minutes later and it is back on. To the suggestion that it is “on” but not “running” - when I am parked I can hear something running (a pump or fan of some sort) that definitely responds to the heat being on. So, it is turning something on - that I assume is using power??????

Click on the Settings in Climate on the phone, and you will see what you're turning on...

It might be trying to move heat to or from the battery. That logic could be included under the heat toggle. The coolant pump for the heater core isn’t loud enough to hear, but the battery pump is.
