You must be referring to this lovely bug that I've been talking about for a while now:

https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...rivian-r1t-owner-comparison.28728/post-655750

Not only does it do this with volume change but it also does this static pop out of nowhere. I think I have videos of that too.

Ford is aware of it and they have been able to replicate it. They are pulling logs from vehicles in order to find a solution from my understanding. It might get fixed in 2029 of we are lucky.

That’s just the drum machine feature for the knob. It can also control cabin temperature, seat heaters and radio volume depending on context ???
Seriously, that’s weird. Haven’t ever had any issues with the B&O system (other than it doesn’t sound that great).

Yup, this just happened to me again this week. It has happened a few times before in the last year or so.

Resetting SYNC did not resolve. Then I remembered the Switch-to-FM fix. (I in Android Auto, I think the initial loud POP happened when I hit play on Deezer, followed by the volume "detent" thumps.

It's completely random and resets don't fix it. Sometimes switching to other sound inputs works but sometimes it doesn't.

It's caused me to nearly jump through the glass roof a time or two on startup.

2022, Mach E, extended battery.

Wife got in the car this morning, upon hitting the start up button, there was a very loud bang, followed by static (much like the old transistor radios), she was so startled she jumped out of the car after turning it off. Tried 4 more times, hoping is would solve issue, while no bang, the static continued on each start up. Waited an hour, and it started up fine, no issues.

Anyone have a similar experience? Car worked fine the previous day, did no charge overnight, and no software updates. A bit disconcerting, to say the least.

Called our dealer, got an appointment for next week. At this point she's a bit leery to get in car. Wish I had a video but do not.

Appreciate any comments. Thanks
I have also this happen once in my 2021 Mach-e GTpe upon startup. Very loud and startling .. I shut it off and it restarted without any issues since.

His issue is different. It is the same thing I experienced - an extremely loud static sound that comes on when you first start the car, and goes away after the car goes into light sleep (after five minutes of being off).

I don't think it's different. I get that one too, which I described a couple posts later. This happens when I drive it randomly as well. The video doesn't make the sound appear to be loud, but it's very loud.

I had one similar one day, every time I adjusted the volume it sounded like someone was throwing a rock at the back of the vehicle, freaked me out, jumped out of the vehicle looking to see who was around. Ended up being my phone causing a loud bang in the bass, after I rebooted it all was good ?

Did you listen to the video I posted? Just confirming we are talking about the same issue...

Yes, you'll hear the same noise on my video before the machine gun volume change.

I listened to your video again and I think it is different. The noise started as soon as I turned on the car. And it continued even after I turned the car off and back on. It was constant, and nothing I could do would stop it or change it.

It was not intermittent and the volume control did nothing. Rebooting SYNC did nothing - the static continued like it had nothing to do with the audio system. It occurred immediately after starting the car, not while driving.

I couldn't even stand to sit in the car, it was so loud. I would definitely not drive it like that. Luckily, it went away after the car's 12V system powered down.

I assure you it's the same. As I've said many times, this also happens when starting the car. Just wait until it happens while your driving and you'll nearly jump through the glass.

I've experienced it the same way you describe I just didn't get it on video that time. Also, as I said, the volume of the sound in my video is a fraction of what it actually is. It is very loud and that's coming from someone who goes to concerts almost every month (just saw Duran Duran last night in Sacramento).

Maybe, but your video sounds a lot different from mine. The volume control didn't do anything in my car. There is no way I could hear road noise over it.

Hopefully it won't happen when I am driving, because I would consider that a serious safety issue. At least the way it happened to me, I was not driving, so it was just super annoying. If on the highway, it would be dangerous. I would have to immediately stop the car and get out.

This appears to be a lot more common with everyone reporting the problem. I know our favorite engineer reached out to me when it first happened (last year), and he said they were trying to figure out what was causing it. They thought it might be electrical arcing, which it does sound like. But I assured him it was not electrical, and definitely acoustical, coming from the audio speakers.

That sounds like a different issue. Watch the video in the ink I posted.
Hmm; not that. I do think mine has resolved in the past 2 months. After having time to rethink the event, it went like this.

Get in push start and very loud pop followed by very very faint static....no Sirius. Turn the volume up and every click of the knob produces a pop...but nothing like the initial pop. I thought the sound system was blown. Decided to try FM and everything was perfect. Went back to Sirius and all good.

IIRC you have to disconnect 12V power to the ACM to fix the static issues so it completes a cold boot.
