I don’t recall the original 1.3/1.4 features mentioning the suggested lane changes. Am I recalling incorrectly? I’ve used FDRS and Forscan to get BC 1.3456 and haven’t seen this prompt yet.
My stock 1.3 (23.5 equipped) will suggest a lane change, sometimes. Basically the car in front of you has to be going under your speed while one of the lanes next to you are clear. Which hasn’t happened often in my experience. Assume because I general change lanes before it has a chance to decide to notify me.

And then you still have to signal or can you press “ok” and it’ll change lanes?

You did. But there are more people out there running 1.0 than 1.2.
Ah, it occurs to me now that they’ve done this sort of thing in other OTAs. Such a stupid practice. I suspect it is to be able to pad their accomplishments? The revision notes should only reference changes from 1.2.

Got it this evening and took it for a spin after. 9PM, I-505.

It did really good. It just feels more solid/confident all around. Stays centered a lot better and does not hog the middle line like before. Previously, I felt like it was drifting closer to other cars as they were passing me. That feeling was gone today.

The lane change feature is very neat, it changes lanes confidently. Basically you signal and it changes lanes within a few seconds and like it’s on rails. In other words, it doesn’t wobble around trying to find its footing once it has changed lanes. I didn’t realize I would have to turn off the signal the first few times after it changed lanes.

I also tried to make it change lanes onto the shoulder but thankfully, it gave up after a few seconds with a message “no lane found”. So that is good lol

I could not get it to suggest a lane change. Car in front of me was going 67ish with a limit of 70mph and I increased my limit to 75 but it never suggested it.

Sad news: if you have lane assist off etc, it still has the car icon, so that is not “fixed”.

You don't have to turn the turn signal on. You can just tap it a little bit and it will change lanes.

I'm on BC 1.2

Got to test it on a 240mi round trip yesterday. Some quick thoughts because I know this has been out for a while on newer vehicles:

1. Fewer disengagements, and when it does disengage it comes back faster.

2. Not only does the car move over in lanes for large vehicles (seems like it shifts over for anything Uhaul truck size or bigger), it gives you a visual indication in the instrument display which I like.

3. Lane changes are seamless. I DID get a suggestion to move lanes once which tells me automatic lanes changes might come in the future?

4. The car will now start slowing down ahead of time when the speed limit drops ahead. This is really nice when using cruise control and you're coming up on an area where speed traps are set up right after the speed limit changes.

5. It will slow down for curves which I like, but I thought it might have slowed a bit too much. Not really Ford's fault, they assume the speed limit is the safe speed for the vehicle when that's not always the case. For example, I was on Skyline Drive in Shenandoah NP where the speed limit is 35. It wanted to slow to 30mph for turns which really isn't necessary. Hopefully this feature gets some adjustment capability in the future.

For those wondering the differences between 1.3 and 1.4, they are:

1) 1.4 is 7.7% better.

After using 1.3 for the first time yesterday, my experience echoes what others have said. The lane change feature was the highlight for me and the whole system just felt more polished.

You're all a bunch of whiners. My vehicle already has suggested lane change without 1.3. She is 5' 8" and we've been married for 40+ years.

Actually, she's the opposite of that, unless you count "aren't you a bit close". She criticizes when I make a lane change. ;) :p

Oh you have a different model. My front passenger device warns me when I'm going too fast for her comfort or a traffic light 1/2 mile ahead is red.

So mine said update successful, but I did not notice any difference in the settings. How do you get lane change assist to turn on, etc?

Just tap the turn-signal stalk and it will initiate a lane change. It takes a few seconds for the car to make sure it is clear (and if there’s a car coming up in the adjacent lane it wont do it). It’ll leave the signal on until the lane change is complete.

You can “click” the turn signal stalk and if you do that (instead of the tap) it wont unclick the stalk. And the reason you kinda want to avoid that is because when you un-click the turn signal (to turn it off) it will actually cancel the lane change if it hasn’t mostly completed it (e.g. if you disengage the turn signal too soon).

We went out yesterday and tested some of the new features of BlueCruise 1.3. It was just a quick test in nearly perfect conditions but it feels way smoother than before. We'll do a lot more testing on our road trip this week
