So I upgraded.

I couldn't pass up nearly $14,000 in incentives (with A/Z plan). I traded in my First Edition 2021 Job 1 for a GT 2024 with Performance Upgrade. I've had it for 3.5 years and my 4 year "Options" plan was coming to an end soon... considering my '21 was in a decent accident 60 days after purchase, and had some paint problems, needed some more body work, squeaks were starting to happen... I figured now was a good time to take the plunge.

If you know me and have read my posts (I was one of the first members of this forum), I am extremely dissatisfied in the way Ford has handled OTA rollouts and promises. I was one of the first deliveries of the Mach-E back in early Feb 2021, and was one of the first non-Ford employees to take it for a ride in Sept 2020. I have been hyper-critical of Ford and their ability to keep promises and, most importantly, within a reasonable timeframe and subsequent communication. It should also be noted that I waited MANY months for the BlueCruise 1.0 rollout after delivery, and I am in Early Access.

•3 years to rollout an electronic frunk release? Unacceptable
•1 year to START rolling out BlueCruise 1.3 OTA from public announcement? Pathetic
•1-2 years for halfway-decent PaaK improvements? Terrible

These items could have and SHOULD HAVE been solved in weeks, if not a few months. Not years. Most phone manufacturers (namely Android ones) drop support for their devices after a few years, for context. Imagine having to wait LONGER than the average life of a phone for a SINGLE meaningful update... That's just sad!

So here's where I stand... I am extremely happy with the 2024 Mustang. I love the way it looks, I love the way it drives. BlueCruise 1.3 is exactly what I was hoping for all along, and I genuinely can't imagine too many improvements with this type of system. If BC 1.4 comes along (or higher), great. But I can road trip in peace now without a constant nervous level of supervision over BC 1.0. I truly don't believe there is another vehicle out there that comes close in capability for the price (that include Level 2+ highway hands-free driving). The Equinox EV comes close I suppose, but no CarPlay/Frunk was a dealbreaker for me. Plus it doesn't look nearly as nice and the price is extremely similar. The Blazer EV doesn't have SuperCruise AND is hideous in my opinion.

I still believe Ford needs to improve on their OTA rollout speed and cadence, truly listen to customer feedback and give us more customization, AND communicate better (both the good and the bad, in a timely manner). I won't stop calling them out on this.

Next things I WILL be advocating heavily for (in order of importance to me):
•Charging Speed shown on dashboard (this should have existed since 2021)
•A better regen/power gauge rather than just a little tiny line
•UI improvements
•Car Wash Mode
•Pet Mode
•Sentry Mode
•Sound packs (chimes/propulsion sounds/etc.)... have you heard the chimes in the 2025 Mustang (ICE)??? They're SICK!

Anyways, thanks for listening. Eruption Green with the Bronze Appearance Package is by far, the most beautiful combination for this vehicle. Feast your eyes upon "Raph"!

(for those that don't get the reference, "Raph" or "Raphael" is one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles known for strength (and bad temper LOL).

Here's hoping the next 3 years is better than the first 3 years!

Love the green! That would definitely be my choice if I was buying today. I’m likely still at least a few years away from the next EV, but it would be tough not getting another MachE, at least with todays offerings. Not sure there is another car that checks all of my boxes for ADAS, range, price, and performance.

Fingers crossed for gen2 and T3…

While I love the Mach-E and think getting another one is a good choice, I hope you're prepared to continue to be extremely dissatisfied in the way Ford handles OTA rollouts and promises.
Full aware of that. The 2024 is what the 2021 could have and should have been. I'm happy with this car in its current form, and wouldn't be upset if I received absolutely zero updates in the next 3 years. My expectations are set there, and anything else is a bonus. The 2021s were sold with promise of true improvements that didn't really materialize.

Bit of a difference in spending a couple hundred bucks on an Android with quick ending support and $50k+ on a vehicle. Realistically the software should do what you want when you buy it..if it doesn’t, I would buy something else.

They are cars, not laptops no matter how often people say it. Buy for the features it comes with.

That's not really the world we live in anymore. And to be fair, the system running the Mach-E's head unit is probably a $50 part based on its performance. It isn't running a Ryzen with Unreal Engine, unfortunately, which it should have had.

If you were an early adopter, you were sold on the promises of OTAs. That's not my fault, that's Ford's fault for overpromising and underdelivering. But quoting myself from above:
"...The 2024 is what the 2021 could have and should have been. I'm happy with this car in its current form, and wouldn't be upset if I received absolutely zero updates in the next 3 years. I agree but I am a boomer! My Mach has been frozen since last August but has performed flawlessly since purchase 27 months ago. I could care less if it ever gets another update as long as it continues in that manner. I do hope there are some improvements before I get my next Mach in 26 but I will base my purchase on the car as is and not potential future OTA’s. I do like the green but will probably pass on the bronze.

I’m not even a boomer! But I have been around enough to know early adopter = paying to beta test. Or full self driving shipped 7 years ago…..companies promise everything.

At the price point of a car, I better be happy with it the day I’m buying it.

These aren't mutually exclusive. One can be happy with a car but still expect that the manufacturer will live ups to their promises of over the updates to add features and make improvements. I've been happy with my 2022 GT and don't regret buying it, but that doesn't mean that I haven't been anxiously awaiting improvements.

Good luck with Sentry mode without a high speed USB drive port. Even Rivan's implementation (Gear Guard) was just tolerable and drained 1-2% per day.

If I were to buy an new EV today... it would be the Ioniq 5 N.

If I were looking for more of a family hauler... Lyriq no question.

Great color choice, congrats! Also, love how you named it after Raphael :fistbump:

If Ford still offers Eruption Green with the bronze package in a few years, I'm all over it! Tempted to trade my '23 for one, but it wouldn't make great financial sense.

Good point on Sentry, but that's why it's low on the list.

Love the Ioniq 5 N. But no hands free!

Lyriq is nice, but looks kind of ugly... The other upcoming IQ vehicles are much better looking. But it is the only Ultium with CarPlay! Back seat is uncomfortable though... weirdly enough.

HA I've had the plate for 4 years now, no issues. Sometimes it makes people laugh and that makes me happy. LOL
