New Supercharger has Mach-E parking

Ok, not really, but there is a very convenient non-parking space for a Mach-E or Lightning to use.

Of course, I also noticed that they decided to stripe this so the chargers are all the way to the right to start with. So basically zero chance of being able to use only the intended parking space and not having to use two spaces (or that special end spot).

This charger is obviously not open yet - and there are 8 more charging spots to the right of the photo.

I assure you that most Tesla owners consider us Mach-E owners as being handicapped.

I've actually been curious if these are v3 or v4. The detail on supercharge.info says v3 - but I thought I had seen that the v4s were all delivered and set up as a 4 pc unit, which these were. I just don't know enough about super chargers to say for sure. At least until they actually uncover these.

If they were V4s, they *should be centered in the spots since the 9' cables can reach either side from there.

Just for wide door opening, you mean (not as an actual 5th parking spot)? If so, that's fine since the combined spot would still just be one spot. I'd feel fine just parking 2/3rds of the way onto it since it's not using up any extra parking. That means #3 would then have lots of door space too.

If #4 is a handicap charging spot, it does raise an interesting priority question... Is it better for a non-handicap driver to use the handicap spot, or to block 2 Tesla spots? I'd probably choose the former (especially at a 4-charger station) since the odds of 3 Teslas showing up is way higher than one handicap driver. Plus, blocking a 2nd charger truly means it can't be used. While not getting a handicap spot usually doesn't prevent them from charging, it just makes it more difficult. The 1st priority should be simply be getting a charge.

Rare to have only 4 there, if it's actually an SC station.

We just got 8 V4 Superchargers in town (population <5000). Our first ever DCFC chargers. All 8 have 3 meter charging cables. The Mach-E has no problems charging at any one of the chargers and in the proper space for that charger. Don't have to take up two spaces.

Two chargers are parallel with the street in the center of very wide parking spaces. I parked dead center of the parking space about 18" away from the charger.

The 6 other charges are perpendicular to the street in normal size parking spaces. Each charger is on the right side of the parking space. Parking forward in the proper space for that charger I had to run the cable across my hood but it easily reached.

Backing into one of these parking spots, the cable had an easier reach.

Yep, from measuring it was clear that centering V4s in the parking spot with 9' cables would work.
And the side mounts, while a stretch, would work if the car can be pulled in far enough past the charger.

They just need to avoid using the typical V2/V3 layout where the charger is on the front of the curb and in the far right corner. That would likely be too far.

We have a bit of an advantage in the Mach-E where the V4 cable typically hangs from the left side of the charger rather than the right. We'd lose about 2' if it hung from the right instead. Same with the side mount. Much better that they locate the hang from the outward side, not the inward side.

There are two more sets of 4 to the right (so 12 total). They just didn't have the extra striped space.

Zero chance? How would you know, you are simply speculating on the length of the charging cords with no real knowledge? ?

Not sure what you mean? I count 4 ICE pickup truck spots and a Chevy bolt space?
