I’m concerned about the mysterious lock out problem with 2023 MMEs, so I am trying to do things to minimize any possible draw on my 12V battery. I don’t use my phone (android) PAAK most of the time since I always carry my key fob, but I sometimes like to use my phone to remotely lock my car when I think I may have forgotten to do so. My phone shows an icon “trying to connect to your car” all the time, so I was wondering if there is a way to put PAAK “to sleep” so it is inactive until I want to use it. Or is my only option to disable the app altogether?

I had considered that but I use Bluetooth for so many other things that probably won't work for me. I don't want to have to turn Bluetooth off just because I'm going into the garage where it wakes up my car every time I walk by.

Don't know about Android but on iOS you can selectively disable BT per app in Settings -> Privacy -> BlueTooth.

I'll have to see if my phone can do that. Thanks.

I don't think you need PAAK to lock/unlock your car remotely. On my Lightning (which doesn't have PAAK), I am able to lock/unlock using ford pass. You can test it by trying it when you're completely out of BT range.

I have an iOS automation that disables my BT when I'm sleeping at night. iOS automation is a life changer. I would guess that Android has the same capability.

Ford Pass will lock/unlock your car without PAAK.

turning BT off is the easy way.... but shuts off all your BT devices

you can also 'force stop' Fordpass on your phone, this shuts down the PAAK ping.

-click-hold on your Fordpass icon, click the little "i" for information, and 'force stop' the app.

the remote lock/unlock uses wifi 'upon request', so FP lock/unlock works when you are out of BT range or BT is turned off.

if you want BT on, but disable PAAK, you can 'force stop' Fordpass, and then start it back up when you are on the way to the car to go somewhere.

I don't think that wifi is involved at all. My remote lock/unlock works just fine even when the phone wifi is off, and there is no PAAK. It also works everywhere. including places where there is no wifi.

Yes, I came here to say that I removed the PAAK from my Ford Pass app because the car is always too close to my phone and was being woken constantly.

PAAK was "cool", but I quickly realized it was not necessary to have PAAK to unlock my car if I just needed to get or put something in the car: I just use the numeric pad on the door to unlock and re-lock the car in those cases.

EVERY car previous to this required I have a key to start the car. So, I realized that starting and driving the car with just my phone on me was simply laziness.

One more benefit came from removing PAAK. I used to get in the car and have my wife's profile mistakenly selected, so seat, mirror, and driving modes were always wrong.

Get rid of PAAK. you can still lock and unlock the car with your Ford Pass app or the numeric pad.
