To anyone out there reading this, 3 weeks ago I got an error message on the display that reads.....door fault service required. I had a co-worker do a diagnostic to get the code and the code is U3000-11. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the car. Called several dealerships and was told several things. What is the problem and solution? Door sensor, door latch, software update, etc?

Hey there. Can you please send over a message with your VIN and estimated mileage? I would like to take a closer look at your door fault concerns on my end.

Not sure the doors work just need to press OK every start? Maybe one is not locking?
Doors work and lock. I have to press OK every time I start up the car. It's annoying.

I have been dealing with this on my Mach E since mid march. Been dealing with Rep with Ford. Had buyback denied after receiving it back after 3rd attempt and over 50 days at shop. Was good for a week then started up again. Dropped it of this past Monday morning at dealership awaiting the 4th attempt to fix it. Display cycles between passenger door ajar message then becomes the door fault service required. They have replaced latch, a module twice, and not sure what they are going to do for the 4th repair attempt. When it is in the error pattern the door will not lock and have been getting alarm alerts on phone that alarm is triggered do to door being open. Some times the horn is sounding when the alarm is triggered. Scared the crap out of me last weekend when it went off at 2 in the morning in my locked and attached garage.

Is Ford paying for all this or is Ford making you pay?

Ford has been paying for rental, gas, and repairs as it is being processed as warranty work. I have almost run out of patience on this car and started discussing options with a lemon law lawyer. In Oregon it is (3) repair attempts on a warrantied item, or 30 days combined in shop for first 2yrs or 24k miles. I will be (2) years in December, and am currently at 15,500 miles. Problem started at around 13k miles.

I am now on attempt #4 and total of over 60 days for the first 3 attempts (53 alone on the 3rd attempt). Today is day #5 for this 4th attempt with no communication from my dealership or ford rep.

Update: Got the call from dealership yesterday at 11 a.m. that the car was fixed and could be picked up. Got a phone call about 30minutes afterwards from Ford rep indicating that my buyback request had been moved on to the 2nd phase or whatever term they used which in her experience meant the buy back had been approved. The 2nd phase was just to double check all of the paper work, but she couldn't guarantee it. During lunch, i took the rental out to run through carwash, vacuum and fueled up. Ran out of time to actually go get my car. A little after 1 I got a message on my phone that the car alarm had been triggered to do to door ajar followed by warning that electrical system drain service required (no after market devices in car) and to plug car in to maintain 12v battery.

At about 1:15 the Ford rep called be back to let me know that shortly after we talked at 11:30 my case was now officially showing as buyback approved. I relayed the info about the messages i was getting. She indicated it was up to me if i wanted to pick up the car or leave it at dealership, but would have to turn in the rental. Went to return rental and pickup car. Showed the counter person the phone app messages. He went and got the tech and we went out to the car. The tech looked and sounded so defeated. He hooked up the computer to record the codes and reset. I opted to take my car home. I will probably just park it until I get my offers.

Quick question, the issue started at about 12,300 miles (in mid to late march) and now have 15,500. I am assuming I will have a "usage fee" to pay. Should that usage fee be based on when it started or at milage after last fix?

I feel Ford has done ok by me by providing me free rentals as paying gas, but is there any negotiating that can be done? I am thinking as i am just going to do a straight buy back. Love the car but need some time to let the sour taste leave and not wild about jumping into another car loan right now. I have access to another vehicle that i can use. Just don't want to find out that i potentially left something on the table.

The usage fee is the car price divided by 120,000 miles x mileage at first incident. example: $50,000 price and 12,000 miles... 50,000/120,000 X 12,000= $5000 usage fee. I requested reimbursement for my EV charger, charger installation, dog seat covers, and gas while using rentals. It took 6 weeks after I was approved for me to hand over the car and get my check.

While it sounds like everyone involved made sincere efforts to fix the issue, it still baffles me that any system with a finite number of components can be deemed unfixable.

There's literally a list of part#'s for the whole system. I'm not saying it would be an enjoyable task to replace every component on a fully assembled car, but do you just write the car off because of it?

The factory service manual has a lengthy pinpoint test that walks the technician through a process of elimination. Lots of harness/connector/pin testing for voltage readings as well as ohms/resistance tests.

Amazing how many modern vehicles are lemon'd or bought back because of electronics.

Service has to be directed that they can carry out that process and get paid. Not the case with this car lately. My service knows by reproducing it that the car L2 charges no where near spec. What they got from Ford is maybe something in the fourth quarter (year and a half after they installed the software to slow it down ..... maybe soon). Service has no direction to pin point or get paid.

I also have this door fault again for the second time. Not whining about carplay or anything like that just the basics like home charging. When they fix that they can get rid of this message box about a door. Will not be getting a buy back because I need to press OK. Saving gas and feeling better and their is not any that are a whole lot better yet that have dealers up here. Waiting to find the new tech winner. @Ford Motor Company fix our charging! In-Vehicle Karaoke not required.
