I have a 2021 MME and never had this feature. I have found that I can
Kick to open was a feature on 2021 Premium’s and GTs only. If you have one of those and the car is under warranty you can have the dealer work on it. I personally find the feature works somewhat haphazardly.

I just got my 2024 MME GT on Friday. Since we bought it from a dealer a couple states over, wife and I made a vacation out of the trip home and we just got home last night. Today, I'm looking into this, and I found this thread. I was hoping y'all would be providing an explanation on why my hands-free liftgate wasn't working. I am looking because I thought I had all the options on this thing. I see in the owner's manual on page 93 it says:
"OPENING THE HANDS-FREE LIFTGATE (If Equipped)". This did not show in the options on my window sticker so I'm guessing it's not equipped. I'm also not finding anything that indicates that this can be added later, either.

By “Hands Free” do you mean the Kick to Open option? That was discontinued starting in 2023. ??

The hands free liftgate (Kick to open feature) hasn’t been a thing since the 2021 model year. Some 2022s had the hardware installed but didn’t have it activated, it’s simply not been available since then.

On the more pragmatic side, you’re not missing much. Mine rarely works. It’s almost always faster to just press the button — which is what I do these days.

Use your fob or PAAK.

Thanks, I gathered that by reading through the multiple comments reflecting so in this thread. But it's discussed in the "2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E Owner's Manual" which I quoted in my comment. I'm just not sure why it's even mentioned in 2024 Owners Manual if it's not even an option.

Owner’s manuals are cumulative reference books. The 2024 contains information for all previous model years as well. It can be more than a bit misleading for all years models. On the bright side, doing so allows the most recent updates and features to be included when they may be missing from earlier versions of the manual.

The two features of my early build 2021 that I couldn’t possibly care less about are the kick to open liftgate and the self parking. Neither will be missed on my next Mach-e.
