I went to try out the Tesla Supercharger adapter today. I have Blue Oval charging network setup as prescribed and successfully used it on Electrify America chargers. I went into the Charging app on the infotainmant center and, sadly none of the Superchargers near me are compatible. So, I chose one about 10 miles away in another city.

I connected the adapter to the Supercharger cable as prescribed and then plugged it into the car. The white spinning buttons turned solid blue. So, I get into the car and it says, "Charger starting" on both the big screen and in Ford Pass. It stays that way for about 5 minutes and I get a "Charging Station Fault". Bummer. I do some shopping and come back to a different charger at the same location. Same result.

I'm using a Ford adapter and charging at the Supercharger in the map below.

What do I do to diagnose this?

Did you find the Supercharger location using the Tesla website/app with these filters?
This ensures the site is compatable.

What adapter and what version of Supercharger are you using?
It's the Ford adapter. I don't know the model of Supercharger, it's the one Ford maps directed me to.

You can check plugshare app to see if other non-teslas have charged at the location/charger. That’s wil at least tell you others have worked there, hopefullly a mach e commented as Well. You would obviously have to try another charger location, or if you knew another Mach e owner to try to the charger with them. Did you try and start the charge in the Tesla app? If you didn’t get the plug charge updated for Tesla you have to start it in the tesla or ford app first.

Great, so the site is valid.
In FordPass do you have Plug&Charge enabled? (Did you get the OTA to enable it for Tesla)

Confirm your credit card information is valid on your Ford account under Connected Services.

You would only need to enable via the Tesla app if you want the membership pricing.

Is that a requirement? I don't have nor do I want the Tesla app.
Requirement, no. It's just an alternative way of activating the charger to help troubleshooting steps.

Also, with the Tesla app you can sign up for the membership which reduces the cost from 10-20% based on the station, can be worth while if you're frequently wanting to charge at a Tesla station. The Ford activation methods do not allow that discount.

I'm pretty sure I got the Tesla update on the Mach E. It's been a while since I got any updates but I can remember telling myself after one update, "Great, now all I need is the adapter." Is there a way to check?

It's possible that the payment method was wrong on my account. The credit card had to be replaced because it was lost. I just now fixed that and will try again later. It's odd that I wouldn't get a payment denied message. Maybe the Ford/Tesla communication isn't very sophisticated.

I'll be interested to see if the cc info fixed solves the problem, I think it almost certainly will.

If Plug and Charge doesn’t work, unplug and activate charger in FordPass (or Charge Assist), then plug in. No need for Tesla app.

Check your app and charging screen in your car to see if Plug & Charge is turned on.

The Tesla app is not required but it is a way to initiate charging if Plug & Charge doesn't work. It also can be used to get the discount.

I didn't actually get an error like you're seeing - but I ended up turning off and back on Plug & Charge in the app since I've had issues with it even at EA chargers. I had enabled it originally forever ago - but it basically never worked. So I made sure to turn it off and on again before testing a Supercharger - and it worked as it should have.
