Resetting Tire Pressure and Low Pressure Warning

My right rear tire was indicating low pressure after the temperature change the past few days. I put in a few pounds of pressure, but the warning light will not go away. I have looked up solutions, but all of them indicate that I need to press and hold the TPMS button to reset the dash warning light. I know I blind, but I don't see a TPMS button. Anyone else run into this problem

That's what I thought. It's been a week. Put in air, driven over 300 miles. Still got the idiot light on.

It takes a few miles to reset. I can’t remember how long it took, but it took a little. Does the number look right in the app?

Are you sure you put enough air in it? Don't go by the TPMS reading. Use a pressure gauge.

There is no TPMS button. If you got a low pressure warning after a slight change in seasonal ambient temperatures, you are probably running your tires too low. Check pressures and add air to bring all of them into spec using a known accurate gauge in the morning before driving and before the sun has hit them. The warning will go away when the tires are inflated properly. It is entirely normal at add some air in the fall and again in the winter to keep them in spec, and not unusual to let some air out in the spring as well. I use an analog dial-style racing gauge that shows very clear psi in one lb increments. My own hose-end inflator registers 4 lbs too high. Use a gauge you know to be accurate.

Edit: if you don’t have your own compressor at home, simply go add some air to all on your way home the night before, overfilling them slightly. Then leave your pressure gauge on the drivers seat as a reminder, and in the morning, let enough air out of each tire to bring each one into spec.

If you have had your tires Rotated, and the shop did not do a re learn on the TPMS the car has no idea where the tires are so the tire that is actually low had moved to another location. Just check them all and I bet you will find one still low.

OK, I agree with what you say and I may have a different issue. My "Low Pressure" warning light came on and using a pressure guage, I filled them to the 39 lbs. The I checked the car computer and it said the pressures were in the upper 40's - reading 6-7 lbs high. So, I went and bought another guage which confirmed the 39 in the tires. Now I don't know what to think...

Just to reiterate, always check, fill, and set them cold without having driven on them or having been in the sun. Once the sun hits them or as soon as you begin driving, the pressures begin to increase. It is normal for the actual air pressure to increase 4-6 psi once they have been in the sun or have been driven for a while. And as you watch your TPMS, as you drive, the individual tire pressures will not increase evenly. The tires that are getting more sunshine or rolling/frictional heat will gain more pressure. This is all normal and expected. DO NOT LET AIR OUT OF WARM TIRES TO BRING THEM BACK INTO SPEC! After they have cooled the next morning, they will be back in spec where they belong. FYI, when cold, my MachE’s TPMS readings are 1psi higher than my analog gauge. I trust my gauge.

Has your TPMS low pressure warning been resolved yet? I think that light staying on was your main concern.

What pressure values are the currently car reporting? You can check in the app or on the display.

After adding air you’ll have to drive a mile for the readings to update.

There is a process (not a button), to enter “learn” programming if you have a learn tool and you are inclined to want to manually learn each wheel’s new location after a rotation. It involves turning the car to on (not run), and turning the emergency flashers on and off three times in rapid succession. And then you use the learn tool (a transmitter) at each wheel in the correct order. But this is not a forced reset of the system. And it is not required because the car will automatically learn as you drive as others have indicated.
