Yes, I’m getting my car back from the dealership today and they said they didn’t find anything. So, I want to press the button with them there to see what happens.
What happened when you picked up the car from the dealership?

The car does not park itself, that option went bye-bye after 2021

Does brake hold even work when the car is in reverse? I can't imagine that brake hold is ever intended for use when in reverse because you'd have to hit the accelerator to get the car to creep if that was the case and that doesn't seem like a good idea.
No. Auto hold does not function in reverse. OP thought it did. So here we are…

OP gone forever?

I guess that answers what happened when they got the car back and hit the button again.

@Isabellags07, your 2023 doesn't have Park Assist. It was eliminated during the 2022 model year. Widely discussed on this forum.

The button still exists, it will bring up public parking locations I believe.

If you had Park Assist, the proper way to use it would be to read your manual, not ask your friend whether you should push the button or not. It is a multi-step process, during which the driver keeps their foot on and above the brake pedal.
I was wondering when somebody was gonna mention this I was reading and reading and reading and seeing if somebody said it doesn’t have it. Because I have the same model car and I know when you push the button, it just brings up your map and shows you where you’re at?

Are you certain? Just today I put it in reverse and took my foot off the brake and sat there while I did stuff on my phone. The car didn't move. I am using 1PD.
She took a lot of flak between the two cars threads she posted. It’s not surprising.
It seems like she was looking for people to support her case. While we should definitely welcome different perspectives in this forum, I don't think it is unreasonable for people to questions her assumptions and results. We should be nice about it, though. IMO!

1pd does that. If she was using 2pd it would start moving unless autohold was also on. There are a lot of unanswered questions here.

She was indeed Mike. I’m also convinced she is convinced the car just reversed in its own. All in all it was an “unfortunate” incident. I agree with your assessment.

Hi ! I’m unsure if I have 23.0 or 23.1 but I did take delivery Dec ‘22 for my ‘23 Mach E.
As for the process, I had that stop hold function on, so my car was securely stationed and my foot was not on any pedals, since I know I don’t need to since it’s on the brake hold. I pressed the Park Assist button and then it maneuvered and reversed with the camera feature on my screen. I did not press any other button on screen or in my car or moved any steering whatsoever. It also didn’t make any sound of anything close by as it usually does when I park. So the replies on the post, stating that I shouldn’t even have Park Assist makes it concerning, since it didn’t even function as how described. I’m curious to see how yours reacts when you press the button in a secure area.
Ok, can you be slightly more specific?

You had the stop hold function on - which means you had pressed the brake and the green HOLD light was lit on the dash, then you removed your foot? I assume this is the case, because only in P or N would the car not move - in D or R it would start moving, if you didn't have the green hold light on.

When you pressed the park button, did the green light go off before it started moving?

Was the selector in P (Park), D (Drive), R (reverse), or N (neutral)?

You were in 1PD or 2PD mode? I use 1PD.

If you took delivery in December 22 you have a 23.0. I took delivery in Jan 23 of the same model so we have very similar, if not identical, hardware.

My bet is that I press the button (the button with P and the lines on either side, on the center) and nothing happens. It is possible that the button removes brake hold, I could imagine that. I could also imagine if you were in N and you didn't really have the green hold light actuated, it would start moving and gather momentum at some point if you were on a slope.

Will report, you have me curious. I have never pressed the button.

I can certainly work through most of these options.

The op has left the room. Her car does not have Park Assist and there’s been no further information provided in either of the two threads they started to indicate there’s an issue with the car.

Yeah.

Just in case anyone else is interested, I tried the button. It doesn't cause the car to move, but it does change the main screen to the "parking" app which says "find parking". The button is entirely benign. You can even press it while driving down the freeway, it'll help you find parking somewhere, I guess.

I tried various combinations of drive mode and hold, and in every case, the button did nothing to the state of the car - just toggled into and out of the parking app.
