So, I have a First Edition, I had it almost 4 years now (took possession February 4th). Last spring, I noticed my car would do a strange dinging sound when I got into the car, no errors, no messages from Ford Pass, just some beeping that wasn't there. About after a week of these beeps, I went grocery shopping and when we came back to leave the store and got into the car, the car started, but didn't want to go into Drive or Reverse and I got that message about needing to stop the car immediately. Ended up towing the car and they adressed the issue with the bulletin about one of the connectors that can fuse together. They fixed it, been using my car for the last 8 months without an issue.

Today, I get in my car to do some errands, same thing. As soon as the door is opened, a beeping sound can be heard. There's no messages, no errors on the dash. I'm now somewhat afraid to drive my car and get stuck somewhere :\ Anyone has had this issue before? Since they adressed the issue 8 months ago, I'd be surprised it's the same issue, but the car isnt' supposed to beep that way when I open the door.

I'm going to try to charge the vehicle to 100% in case it's the small battery (I asked them to check it out 8 months ago and they told me that it was still good so they didn't change it), charging it to 100% should then try to charge the small battery I was told at one point (when we had updates las winter / spring, updates wouldn't want to instal unless my car was charged at 100% and reading about it they said it was because the small batterie's charge was too low and to charge it to 100% to fix that).

Anyways, just wondering if someone else has seen this issue and if I should be contacting ford or not? Thanks!

Check your headlight switch - rotate it around and back to auto. This is a known bug with the switch assembly, that finally has a fix after years with this issue. You can get a new switch but the error is very random. I have not had it for months, and then some months I get it more than once.

Check for aftermarket devices under the dash. There may be a forgotten tracking device that is emitting the beeps and draining the battery. Or else it’s the headlight switch like Mike said. You should get that replaced if you haven’t done so yet.

I just opened the door, same beeping, rotated the healight switch, going to give it a few and check it out again in a few to see if it changed anything or not. Thanks

Is there a service bulletin (or something like that) for this fix?

Just FYI I didn’t want a dealer tech messing with my liftgate switch so I just bought the new headlight switch cluster outright so that I could swap the liftgate switch into the cluster. It was less than $40 including shipping. ??

Anyone know the part number? Or the cost to replace it? Small bug, but semi annoying

I’ve had this happen randomly maybe 3 times in >2 years. The first time I thought maybe it bumped it, the next time I learned it was just random. By the 3rd time i just knew to fix it. Its been several months since this occurred.

Thanks for posting this.....
had the same issue a few months ago and finally realized the lights were staying on along with the beeping. Rotated/cycled the light knob and it went back to normal.
Just read the Service bulletin from one of the links above that stated this condition/bad switch can inhibit updates....I haven't gotten any in some time.....this post was the missing piece.

Not too familiar with Ford's terminology. Is SSM 51696 paid for by Ford whether in or out of warranty?

I have a 2022 MME that & have noticed the the same thing. It is the light switch. I figured out that I hit the switch with me knee getting in or out of the car and it changes the setting to an on position. The beeping is telling you that the lights are on.
