I will be storing my Mach e gt in my garage for 6 weeks. Do I need to detach the negative end on the battery? Thanks Dave

Per manual, charge to 50%, unplug, disconnect 12v.

Or, put 12v on trickle charger.

When was this info about not using a trickle charger sent out?

I have a pigtail for a trickle charger permanently attached to my Lightning's 12V system to charge it when I'm away for that long (doesn't happen often, but...).

I didn't bother to do the same thing with my MME since I left it attached to the EVSE while I was away for the same period, and just remotely turned on the climate system a few times while I was gone. MME started right back up when I got home, and so did the Lightning.

I have installed a 12V battery remote disconnect on both my MME and my Lightning now. Not for the purposes of storage, although I guess I could use it for that, but more for the ability to do a "reboot" on the vehicle modules in the event it gets stuck or starts doing stupid stuff after an OTA has landed.

The Lightning LVB is very easy to get to if it's dead and you need to do something to fix it. The MME, not so much. You can't open any doors to pull the manual handle, and you'd need a jumpbox to pop the frunk. That's why it was way more important to install that remote disconnect on the MME so that I didn't have to go into all the effort of removing beauty panels just to get to the negative terminal to do a quick reboot, or whatever else that involved disconnecting the LVB.

I called ford help and they said ford did not recommend a trickle charger but to disconnect negative wire on 12 volt battery

I don't recommend a trickle charger on anything. I would feel comfortable keeping a battery maintainer connected and powered because it will stop charging when fully charged. The trickle chargers I knew from years ago did not stop charging and could damage a battery.
If you called it a trickle charger, they probably didn't want to be liable if you used the wrong type of charger.

I called a Battery Tender a trickle charger, but it's technically a battery maintainer. Ford is only going to say to disconnect it because that's the official answer.

I have left mine for 6 weeks without doing anything special. It woke right up and started fine. The HVB lost maybe 1%. Just left it for 3 weeks at the airport. Same deal - like I never left it. It drove home like it didn’t even miss me, … but I know it did.

I doubt I would do anything special if I left mine for 6 weeks. I have noticed no loss of charge on the trips I have taken to date. The Mach-E will go into a deep sleep after two weeks. Key effect of this is no remote access.

No. That’s the answer for storing it 6 MONTHS.

For six weeks you turn off the car and lock it. You’ll lose a couple of %SOC.

Manual states 30 days.

Battery Systems
We recommend the following actions for
your vehicle:

• When storing your vehicle for greater
than 30 days the state of charge
should be approximately 50%.
Additionally, we recommend
disconnecting the 12v battery which
will reduce system loads on the HV
battery.

Well the time is up. I stored my 2023 Mache gt for 6 1/2 weeks at 60 % charge and left it in my garage. When I got back it ran perfectly and the battery was at 58%.
