My windshield has a high amount of pitting as well. All relatively clean highway driving. I"m at 30,000 miles. I've never had another vehicle with this type of light pitting. This is the time of the year with the low sun it really is annoying.
Yup.

But some people here will still somehow think that it’s more likely that your driving habits somehow changed with this car or there are more rocks on the road.

Isn’t it at least someone reasonable to believe that our windshields are more prone to damage?

I would guess the coatings, noise reduction, UV blocking and having to have cameras behind the windshield resulted in a reduction in durability.

Big rock? Bad luck.

Small rocks breaking the windows and tons of scratches make me question the durability.

Fine, I’ll be the one to say it because of all the hate towards people that haven’t had an issue with over 30k on their MME.

“Stop tailgating, stop brown nosing the car in front of you, yes, that dump truck could be carrying rocks, no it doesn’t have beer onboard.”

I love my Mustang Mach E. I've now owned two of them. My first one was a 2021 GTPE. Had for 33,000 miles and three years. Windshield was not the best but not as bad as my 2024 GT. I have have the car on the road for two weeks now and 800 miles. There are so many pits in the glass it is unreal. I have had the whole car wrapped in PPF to help with chips. I do NOT ride peoples butts either. I am extremely upset with this. There is no reason this should be happening. It is worse than my 33,000 miles glass on my old one.
Wow I thought I was the only one - I just got my 2024 Mach-E Aug 21st - work from home so I don’t drive much. Used only 4 times so far, don’t ride close either - but noticed when I got the car the windshield had pits in it. I got the PPF also - mine is black and I noticed the paint isn’t the greatest with.

The chips aren't my problem. I've had a 21 FE, 21 GT, and now 24 GT and all windshields were and are so visually distorted at the edges as to make me dizzy to look through the edges of the glass. It's severely distorted as much as 15 inches from the edge. I've owned dozens of cars and never have seen anything like this mess of a windshield.

Yeah, I do most of my driving on city highways that are frequently swept, and I have mixed opinions on the windshield, because I'm frequently shocked that it didn't shatter from the impacts of rocks and debris, but also shocked at just how many pits I have.

Don't even get me started on how many paint chips I have too.
My 1st windshield chipped then cracked, 2 weeks later another 4 chips auto glass repair the chips but I can still see them?, nearly every panel has chips on, I just put it down to driving in the slow lane so I don’t drain the battery and all the drivers come past me flicking stones ?

Any chance the "pitting" is in the plastic layer(s) inside the outer glass layers? Our Lightning sound screen glass is very annoying at times with sun glare hitting tiny bubbles in the glass.

They do have PPF (or is it GPF) for windshields now. Maybe the way to go.

2.5 years on my GT in busy northern NJ and I have a few small chips/nicks but luckily no cracks or repair needed. I do feel like there are more small nicks that show up with the right sun than on other cars I’ve had.

Would putting a PPF or other coating mess with the auto-wipers with rain or with the cameras at all?

Fun fact - glass is softer in the summer and harder in the winter. A summer chip is likely to become a winter crack.
Fun fact. Glass is actually a very thick liquid, not a full solid. Don’t believe me? You know how very old glass looks wavy? It is also thicker at the bottom and thinner at the top. It takes decades or centuries. But it actually flows.
