I understand. And, I agree the worst riding car I have ever drove/rode in.
Also, consider yourself lucky you leased and will be turning it in. You could have bought for $60k+ two years ago and it barely worth half that.

There is no way this is true about the ride, value thing is probably true but most electrics are suffering, cars have always been a depreciating asset.

I see a lot of love on these boards for the MME, but I don’t think I’ve seen many posts like mine. I don’t know if I just got a clunker or if my experience is the rare outlier, but I’m really disappointed with my MME. There’s actually a lot I like about it but the things I dislike are making me regret getting it, because they’re all things that I’ve had in other cars that worked as they should, all the time. With the MME, there are issues with the tech but they’re intermittent, so it’s not as if I can bring it to the dealer and get them fixed.

I leased the car in December 2023 so I’ve had it one year, two left in the lease term. I am kind of looking forward to the end of the term so I can unload it and move on to something more reliable. I update over WiFi when it’s sitting in my driveway and the software is up to date, so I don’t think that’s the issue. Here are some of the problems I’m experiencing, and I’d be curious to know if anyone else also has these issues.
  • Auto “walkaway” door lock- this works most of the time but maybe 1 time out of 20 it doesn’t. For example, I park in the same spot at work each day and I usually hear the lock/chirp when I’m almost out of the parking lot, but every now and then, it hasn’t chirped by the time I get to the door of the building. I have to walk partway back to the car to lock the doors with the remote. I have “lock/chirp” anxiety.
  • Rain-sensitive wipers- often the wipers will be wiping when the windshield appears to be completely dry. Other times, it’s actively raining and they don’t wipe. I have the auto wiping set correctly on the stalk, and sometimes it works properly, but about half the time it doesn’t.
  • Speed-sensitive volume- this doesn’t work at all. The volume doesn’t turn down when I come to a stop and it doesn’t get louder as I drive. Sometimes I’ll be driving at a steady speed and the volume will suddenly increase, then maybe a minute later it’ll return to the original volume. It happens on different radio stations and Spotify, so it’s not the station causing the problem.
  • Qi charger- doesn’t work. It recognizes when my phone is set on it (Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra) and it will begin to charge, but after about 5 minutes it stops because it’s overheating the phone.
  • Suspension- this car has the worst suspension of all the cars I’ve had in my life. I feel every bump and crack in the road.
  • Pressing any seat memory button brings up an alert on the dash about the lane-keeping system (??). Bizarre. The alert also often appears when I get in the car and the seat moves forward into driving position.
  • Day/Night lighting on dash- it often gets confused. Sometimes at night, when it’s dark, the dash lights up brightly as if it thinks it’s daytime. Sometimes the dash lighting is correct for the time of day but the nav screen is wrong, sometimes vice-versa.
  • Maybe 1 out of every 20-25 times I get in and start it up, the Bluetooth won’t connect to my phone. I have to stop, put it in park, shut if off and (this is the key), open the door. Then I close the door and start up again and it will connect.
  • When the doors are unlocked and I open the back hatch by pressing the button on the underside of the hatch handle, the hatch opens fully. But when the doors are locked, it opens only a few inches and I have to press it again to fully open. This is annoying.
Any one or two of these things would be so minor that I wouldn’t even mention them, but there are enough that I just feel like I shouldn’t have to put up with all the glitchiness for what this car is and what it cost. I really expected a more refined vehicle and am regretting not going with one of the other cars I was considering.

Sorry for whining, I'm just envious of everyone who doesn't seem to have these issues, as I really wanted to love this car. Counting the days until my lease ends.
I have a 2021 GTPE that I bought new 3 years ago. I guess I am lucky because I love it. The only trouble I have is the sound/ speed doesn’t work. I did have the contacted problem and it was replaced in two days and that the only time my mme has been in the dealership other than the annual maintenance. What a terrific car. I look forward to driving it every day. Better luck on what you try next when your lease is up.

Yes. Way.
Also, I agree with your depreciation statement. When one buys a Toyota, it too will depreciate 50%. Of course, that will be in 5+ years. lol.

Maybe it's the GT but with tires at spec psi or a hair under the basic ride quality to mild to moderate road imperfections for me is good. The most unforgivable part is the bounciness on certain types of road, especially material transitions. If you say this aspect is the worst I would agree, but you've not driven many large cars if you have never felt this before. Might be worth checking your tires/pressure situation may need a change.

One of the biggest problems with the MME is the inconsistency of the experience based on the posts I see here. I am sharing my experiences on 3 separate MMEs I have owned now. While I am having a great time, there are others of you with crazy lists and experiences with problem after problem. Ford has to do better in this regard. From my own experience, it does seem like every model year is an improvement but I don't think that really helps owners of earlier model years with issues.

I bought a Select around July 2021. Loved it, didn't care about the stiff suspension. Backup camera had some issues and Ford sent me to the dealer a few times and they had engineers on it. Ford paid for a month of my car payment for the trouble. That support ticket started in this forum. I traded it in for 22 GTPE in August 2022 because I loved the car so much and wanted the upgrade. I can't remember the exact mileage when I traded in but I think it was around 25k, my trade value was the original purchase price value which was crazy.

22 GTPE was a great ride. I had no issues at all that would register to me. A 1/100 event like Sync freezing or the wipers going off once when it was dry are examples of things that do not register to me. December 2024 presumably HVJB broke on the way to work. With over 40,000 miles I limped over to the dealer who offered me a free Uber to get home since they were out of loaners. I ended up going over to their sales team and left with a 24 GT w/ perf upgrade with all of the end of year incentives plus x-plan, and a trade price like the car was not broken. I took a big haircut on the trade-in but considering I received the $7,500 credit twice on the previous MMEs, as well as insanely inflated trade-in values when I bought the first two, I wasn't too beat up about it.

24 GTP has been a blast. Zero issues, can tell a big difference in the power with the chains unbroken after 5 sec/72 mph. I got the pano roof this time as well as Blue Cruise, which works on my entire route to work. I just drove up to Buffalo from Columbus and BC worked nearly the entire time except for some really bad rain. I had a flawless Tesla v4 Supercharger stop as well. Already over 1,000 miles.

My only real issue is PaaK is still broken due to the Android update.

I've experienced a myriad of minor (and less minor) issues as well. Phantom lift gate openings, terrible responsiveness from the app, CarPlay audio issues, 12V battery problems, front camera faults, and yeah - a new HVBJB. I love the car when it works (except for the bouncy suspension), but have pretty much written this off as my first and last ever Ford. It's death by a thousand paper cuts - none of them are a killer alone, but all of them together ruin the experience.

No, but a car company with a decade of manufacturing experience producing a vehicle more reliable that a company with a century of manufacturing experience would be a little closer. Also simple things like responding to customer service issues and working with team Edison directly has been abysmal.
I have the only mach-e in our subdivision. The two most common vehicles here are Ford F150 Raptors, followed by Model Y's and Model S's. Not one Tesla owner is truly happy with their car. Those who aren't dissatisfied have come to accept the flawed paint, the panel gaps, and updates that brick their car until it can be undone (when possible). Not one Raptor owner is dissatisfied. The guy who lives down below us would rather drive his recent model Leaf than his Model X. It just works better is his comment. My mach-e has been virtually flawless in the nearly 4 years I've owned it.

Every manufacturer has issues. Tesla is not the holy grail of ev's. Owners have expectations and some of those expectations are not realistic.

Thanks for all the responses. I'll take it in to the dealer to see if they can address any of my issues, I just hate the idea of taking in what is essentially a brand new car (or it was when most of these issues first arose) to get things fixed. And a Tesla is not and never was an option for me- I rented one once and it was fine, but for reasons I won't get into on these boards, I will never buy one.

I guess I expected more from the car and from this car company. It's my first Ford and will likely be my last.

If a car is the worst ride you have ever had…I question what you did during the test drive and why you own it.

I can speak to that from personal experience. When I took my MME GT for a test drive, it was hard to focus on just one aspect of the vehicle. I found myself taking in all the different features and comparing them to my previous car, which is common when driving something unfamiliar.

During the test drive, I did notice the front end felt a bit stiff, but I dismissed it as likely due to that particular stretch of road rather than the car itself. It wasn’t until after delivery, while driving to and from work on familiar roads, that I began noticing some unusual ride characteristics. These were roads I knew well from my previous vehicle, which had no such issues, but suddenly I was experiencing extra springiness. The front end felt stiff, while the rear seemed to sag and bounce, almost like one of those toy rocking horses suspended on springs.

If you’re fortunate enough to have the GTPE, then you get the Magnaride system, which Ford likely designed to address this issue. However, for the 2023 models, it was an optional upgrade, and by 2024, it’s practically standard (Hmm, I wonder why?). ?

I’ve tried several things to improve the ride quality. I installed Eibach lowering springs, which are progressive rather than linear, to help soften the ride. I also added sway bars and Koni adjustable rear shocks. What we really need is a matched set of front and rear adjustable shocks, but unfortunately, none are currently available for the MME.

Setting the Koni rear dampers to near full rebound stiffness helps resolve about 95% of the bounciness but results in a noticeably firmer ride. This setup won’t feel luxurious—it’s more of a sports car feel—but it works if you’re okay with a stiffer ride.

I have a lot of these issues too. The most frustrating thing is most could probably be fixed with software.

  • Auto “walkaway” door lock- I have never used this because I don't trust it and would likely never trust such a system.
  • Rain-sensitive wipers- Mine always work when it is raining. They also wipe when the windshield is dry.
  • Speed-sensitive volume- this doesn’t work at all. I agree.
  • Qi charger- doesn’t work. I agree.
  • Suspension- It's rough? Our roads are crap... so....
  • Seat memory button- Never had this happen.
  • Day/Night lighting on dash- Agreed. It is buggy occasionally.
  • Bluetooth- Doesn't fail often, but when it does I get all my screams out. Bugs my wife more than me.
  • Back hatch- Mine REGULARLY requires two presses of the on-screen button and/or the button on the hatch to open or close the the hatch. First press does nothing at all. FOB never has this issue. Maybe it has to do with the car being locked? I don't know, but it is frustrating. (I'll look into the TSB mentioned above)
I have other gripes too, but they are all the typical stuff. Ford says, "Look for an update!" and it feels like a snipe hunt. Even if the update is a recall. 5 second limit, 12 VDC anxiety, etc etc. In the end I still like the car and don't regret the purchase. Kinda wish I had leased due to advances in tech, but I knew that going in.
  1. I love the auto-walkaway, the message always tells me that my car has been locked.
  2. Sometimes the wipers turn on when I turn on the car
  3. I never really noticed the speed sensitive volume, I’ll have to pay attention when I’m driving
  4. The qi is a pain
  5. Seat memory is ok but sometimes it adjusts to one of my other drivers
  6. I never have problems with the back lift gate.
  7. Overall, I like the car; blue cruise is excellent in my opinion.

There is a software update for this. It’s tied to a TSB so a dealer should do it for free. Honestly few of your other issues might be smoothed out if your software was updated also.
I have the same issue. I did t know there is a fix for this.

I have all the same problems with my 2021. My wipers finally started working When the dealer replace to coaxial cable behind the rear view mirror. I can expect these problems with the first model year but many should have been taken care of by 2023 …

The 2023 Premium feels luxurious compared to my previous ICE Mustang ?. I agree, it feels more like a sports car.
