Any tips on getting the charging port door to close in the cold weather. It also takes a lot of attempts to open it as well. I’d prefer not to break it. Already have a roll of tape in the car just in case

This is just a tip in general, not cold weather, but I find it closes better when you push with both thumb and forefinger to apply equal pressure to each side of the stem. Pressing on just one spot off-center of the stem often doesn't work. It works better with equal pressure from each side to keep the door flat.

Silicon spray or jell should do it. It works all the time at cold temps but with freezing rain would be another story.

I had water in mine, heated it with a hair dryer, pushed in the mechanism with a tiny screw driver, blew the water out with air compressor (30 psi) and repeated. I had some Remington dry lube (teflon) that I sprayed into it and on the pin. I don’t like using liquid lubes on plastic.
Avoid rinsing the dirt from the power port, water will get in there, it could have been from a car wash also.

Don't try to steal business away from all those Ford service departments trying to charge $100 for charge port cleaning services.

Silicon lube/jelly and use thumb and finger on edge...
But now there seems to be a fluid leak underneath and it makes noises when I go in and out of it
