Continuation of this:

I am in car hell. 15% of the time I have owned this car it has been stuck at Ford. Lemon Law doesn't work in Colorado. Ford appears to be stuck in its own bureaucracies. 2 dealerships are stuck because of Ford's in house engineers aren't responding. They have had the car since September 7th. 23k miles, dropped off with 8 months left on warranty. Now I only have 3 months left.

Well, buy back (like what was recommended) and lemon law are two different things.

Have you gone down the buy back route yet?

side note- love your car.

Here is my 69 Mach 1-

Nobody at Ford will contact me. Its been an absolute nightmare. It is like yelling at windmills. I cannot describe the level of bureaucratic hell I am in.

My 1969 is originally white with Red interior, Red and gold stripe and blackout hood as well!.

So Ford uses each state's lemon law for buy back. Colorado has the single worst law on the books in the entire nation. My car broke 3 months beyond a 24 month window, but under warranty by over 13k Broke at 22k. So legally it isn't an option.

If I sue I will have to pay for Fords counsel and my own. If I lose (which the letter law all but guarantees I will). The best I can do after that (unless Ford decided to be an upright honest company) is sue for a 'Cash and Keep' where Ford will agree to pay me for not being able to use the car it will be a paltry sum and I will still have a broken car I cannot drive safely which ford is unable to fix.

I am in an awful situation.

My car thinks it is colliding with another car constantly. Which led to phantom braking followed by instant acceleration while in BC. They have replaced and reprogramed every sensor in the car and the problems won't stop. It at the point where FORD can't help so they have stopped communicating with the dealership. The dealership can't afford to keep replacing every component without certainty of a fix. The dealerships aren't getting authorization from FORD to start throwing parts at the car. The dealerships don't want to spend thousands upon thousands of dollars having to foot the bill without FORD backing.

What makes it worse. The car is unsellable if it cannot be repaired. The Lemon Law in Colorado is horrific 1 year 4 attempts. I am (was at) 27 months 5 attempts. I cannot legally qualify under lemon. The magnusson-Moss-Warranty act doesn't appear to be able to help me either. cash and keep is typically a fee they pay for loss of use so its a fairly low sum (and won't cover what a rental would cost). The lawyers keep 30% of that.

Have you talked to a lawyer? Or are you bound to arbitration? I haven’t read the fine print. Suing will assure you get attention, and most never get to a trial. You might get your best deal in a settlement. You’re already losing every day you’re without the utility of the car you paid for.

Also have you tried a local TV news station? They might have an “on your side” reporter who will gin up some outrage for you that Ford won’t want.

Yes,

They say the laws in Colorado are so bad Buyback is unlikely. Cash and keep may be the only option.

The dealership would get punished for Fords Problem. The dealerships are stuck because of Fords incompetence . Hurting an independent business wouldn't get the message to Ford. Hurting that business further when they have to bash their corporate overlords will put them on a shit list.

I have initiated a buyback review. But am not expecting much because of our state laws.

I'm amazed that lemon law/buybacks are so disadvantegeous to consumers in CO, I thought it was pretty much a nationwide norm to have these options. Hope it works out.

so.... if you toggle OFF BlueCruise, and "driver assisted braking", and maybe disconnect the front camera (coaxial connection above rearview mirror), the vehicle should be drivable, right ?! just not with the features you paid for.

personally, I would take the car back, disconnect the crap that is not working right, and just drive it as an "unassisted" car, and shoot for compensation from Ford on what it would cost to remove replace the cameras and BC "package"
