It’s a very rural state outside of Honolulu, Hilo, and a couple of other locations. We live 20 miles from Kamuela, for example, and the cost to run sewer lines would be quite prohibitive. Other places are on volcanic rock and those are beyond prohibitive. The same can be said for drinking water.

Septic systems are a huge improvement over cesspools but certainly not ideal. There’s no easy solution, there’s no solution that’s not stunningly expensive, and our reefs are paying the price. Ask @ChasingCoral, he’s the expert (really).
I gathered from his name that he liked corals. I know very little about reefs other than how diverse they are and how critical they are to the marine ecosystems. Again, it’s why I’m sort of shocked that HI still permits septic systems. Even a backwards place, like FL is trying to eliminate them over time (granted, the entire state is nothing but a pile of sand, so burying infrastructure is slightly less difficult technically). I would have hoped HI would have been further ahead than FL.

Now that the Mach E received 10.1.0 Public Charging works while underway and I can answer your question.

Public Charging is primarily intended for use finding nearby chargers. It was actually developed as an app for fleet customers of eTransits but has been opened to the rest of us.

You have a variety of filters you can use and it will find the nearest ~ 20 chargers that fit your parameters. You can scroll through that list.

It also has a search feature but the keyboard is grayed out when underway. Unlike Ford Nav there isn't a "passenger override" either.

I haven't tried using it with voice commands but I rather doubt the Ford voice command would do much with it.
I’ve had public charging for a while and Rob was kind enough to give me a quick primer. I didn’t know the history of its development though.
I should note that I just got 10.1.0 today and played with the “new” public charging app. I’ve expressed my concerns elsewhere, so I won’t repeat myself. Overall, I found public charging (even the older version) useful for road trips. I’m sure this one will be even better.

With this update the app didn’t change other than out ability to use it while underway.

We only have to charge on a road trip a few times a year, but public charge has been easy, sure the software looks dated, but my wife and I use no other apps or charge accounts.

That’s why I put “new” in quotes - while I didn’t know if there were any changes to the app (besides access while in motion), I wasn’t sure, based on the extensive release notes and change log ford provided ?

Ford’s in a no win scenario. If they give us details people complain about TMI. People also complain when they give us a brief synopsis. Personally, I’m more like my cat, “I don’t know what I want, but it’s not whatever it is you’re about do.” ;)

I haven’t used the app since beta testing. Why? They exclude stations based upon ratings found in PlugShare. Thus, they hide every DCFC on the island and half the L2s and it takes a bit of work to unhide them.

In EA, just got this, and it seemed to enable the new, more advanced remote climate control options.
It would have been great to read that in the release notes, but they were back to the hopelessly vague drivel we used to get.
2022 CARt1, EA.

Enabled the remote climate control settings in mine as well. When I took the survey I did chastise them for the ridiculously uninformative description. Would have been nice to have had a note of "this will enable additional climate control options in Ford Pass for 2021-22 vehicles".

Or even: “with a subsequent sever-side change, this update will enable additional climate control options.”

It’s frustrating because they seemed to have been making progress on the release note front.

I like the idea of EA and think it could serve to make everyone’s experience better if Ford took it seriously, but they clearly don’t care (at least not consistently).

Instead we get these mystery releases out of the blue followed immediately by surveys asking for feedback. How do I rate the update? I don’t know, I’ve had it for minutes and you’ve told me nothing. How would I rate the release notes? They’re very, very poor. Almost like you stopped trying.

I’m happy with the new features and to be getting updates again, but EA is such a frustrating wasted opportunity to try to be a part of.

Hope it’s not the plot for Moana 3

I’m not sure anyone is complaining about Ford providing “too much” info. But the more info provided, the more info for savvy forum users to pick apart and criticize - that I have seen. Still, Ford should take its lumps and be as informative as it can.
