Thank you
I will be using the mobile charger that plugs in to the outlet. Do I have a way to control at what amperage it charges?
Can't control the amperage of the Ford mobile charger. It charges at 30A.

do you have an embedded box behind that plastic piece which has the hole for your power, or just screwed the plastic holed piece into the drywall?
It connects directly to the circuit breakers on the opposite side of the wall thru a knockout clamp inside the breaker box.

I got my Ford Charge Station Pro installed yesterday afternoon.

What a huge relief not having to worry about public charging anymore. Night and day difference.

I also love the blue glow in my garage at night. Pretty bad ass

Instead of 220, I'd say splurge and go 240V (it's a joke, look it up). I think the biggest advantage of getting a 50A outlet is that you can replace your charger without an electrician. The additional speed from a hardwired 60A isn't necessary for most people. I charged off the 32A mobile charger for over a year, before getting a 40A dedicated (plugin) charger. Both work great. You've got to sleep sometimes. You can't drive it all day and night.

Good morning all
I've owned my MME 17 days, and the passenger door has a ding in it!!! I am pissed. It was inevitable, of course, but I haven't owned it a fortnite. I still have the dealer plate!!! Thanks for listening.

I work from home and drive very little, so so far, my 110v travel charger has been enough. However, I want to give myself the option of having 220v if needed.
He will install two 220v outlets from a 50amp breaker, one inside the garage and one outside. I have 2 neighbors that have used their travel chargers for a year as their daily method, and it's worked fine, so I will take that route for now.

However, I'm thinking of asking the electrician to put in a 60amp breaker so that I have room for future expansion to a dedicated charger. If I've read correctly, the MME has a maximum amperage draw of 48 amps from a charger, so limiting me to 50 amps today is a dumb step.

I'm not looking for ideas on a wall charger, since there are plenty of threads on that. I simply ask if my thinking of getting the 60 breaker makes sense. I imagine that it will be more expensive than the 50a since 60a will probably require thicker gauge cabling.

Thank you
If he is installing a 50 amp outlet, he is prohibited from adding a 60 amp breaker. But, He can upsize the wiring without problem,. You can then in the future change the breaker and install a hard wired EVSE unit. Or, he could put a 100 amp or bigger subpanel in the garage and run your 50 amp receptacles off that. Then future upgrades are less costly and flexible to amperage. Breakers are not that expensive depending on brand and style. It's not like they use BQD's in homes where a 2 pole would cost $200.

thanks Ian
Yes I did, and it doesn't make financial sense to me. They charge $38 a month for unlimited charging and install the charger for "free", with a 10 year commitment - too long.

thank you Randal. My thought for asking for the 60a breaker is to allow me room for future growth or a hardwired charger that may ask for a bigger breaker. Plus, if the limit of the system is 48 amps at full load, having a 50a breaker seems too close, no?
According to one of my Electrician buddies, the conventional wisdom is 80/20 so a 60 amp breaker would be good for 48 Amp load. ( 80% x 60 amps = 48) . In my case I have a 50amp breaker and I limit the amp draw to 35 amps. 80% would be 40 Amps. So we are well within the specs. and the charging sessions are always adequate.

There's no reason you can't replaced a hardwired EVSE without an electrician. It's just screw terminals instead of a plug. If you can use a screwdriver, you can replace it.

I don't see the need for two receptacles on one breaker. That will increase your cost and you either need one outside or inside. I have one inside but can only charge outside due to junk in the garage. I have a Grozzl-E that has a cable that is thick enough to close the garage door when charging.
The cable is long enough that I can reach the MME or a Tesla Model 3 (with an adapter) parked beside each other.
I like the idea of the 60 amp for future needs.

Last question. Perhaps.

Since I don't drive much and haven't owned it a month yet, what is better for the battery:

1. Letting it drain down to 30 or 40% and then charging to 80? Longer drains and charges?

or

2. Charging it more frequently and bring it up to 80%? Shorter drains and charges?

I never believed in undercharging all my EVs.

There's a SOC buffer built in so it prevents you from truly reaching 100%.

I charge mine to 100% on L2 and L3 knowing there's about a 7-9% buffer built in.

With advanced BMS, I never believe in short changing myself.

Haven't had an issue for over 8 years so far...
