I never understand posts like this. Everyone knows, or should know, that you can't see the extent of damage from pictures, and therefore it's impossible for anyone to do anything but pull a guess out of their butts. Given that 99.9% of respondents aren't body shop estimators, it's useless information.

There will be 20 answers, and some percentage will guess right, and some will guess wrong, and you still have no information. "Biff on the forum said it's not totaled" wont' get you a dime.

It will be whatever the insurance company's estimator says it will be. You can then fight that, or not fight that. If they total it, since it's a 2021, and you have 100,000 miles, you'll be lucky to get $20,000 IMO. Since I'm unqualified even for that answer, take it for what it's worth. You can't go after the Jeep driver for more than the market value unfortunately.
Cause after an accident there are a lot of emotions and conversations happening and you are just trying to plan.

Mine got side swiped from the front bumper (passenger side) to the rear. Took it to a Ford body shop and they did an amazing job . Went after the driver's insurance company for the repair and extra for the loss of value. The vehicle was only 2 months old when it happened
As in lawyered up? I have a fire fighter buddy who is encouraging going after the other driver, who did fess up right away. My dash cam video shows his light had been red for 6 seconds when he ran it.

No lawyer. Just contacted their insurance agent and asked for loss of value. Had to negotiate a bit.

Ouch. That video is reminding me to get a dashcam installed. Good to hear the wife is doing OK, and she did a good job braking and swerving left to avoid the worst of the impact. As someone else said earlier in the thread - hope the insurance of the other party takes care of you.

This seems to be what reddit says as well. I have USAAs extra 20% coverage if my car is totaled but am fearful of being left with an underwater loan as I hear insurance companies don't necessarily like to be realistically.

Yeah I got in an accident at 16 where the other side was clearly at fault and insurance said it was both of us. Ever since I have owned my own cars, I put a dash cam in. Even if I'm at fault, I'd rather ensure there's no he said she said BS and have the burden of proof.

In this case the other guy was a stand up dude and admitted fault right away. So this just provided my wife and I comfort that she did the best she could have in the situation

You can get diminished value, but not in all states. But that's not anywhere near buying a new vehicle, nor the loan someone still owes.

Just a guess (as all are), with that many miles on the car, I would say insurance company will total it. Also, with electric cars, it seems that any damage near part of the battery tends to result in totaling the vehicle. Hopefully you will get some market value for the car. Glad your wife is okay.

I didn't know the liftgate was a composite material. From the damage it is clear though, it's not metal. Is it fiberglass?

Glad the Missus is Ok.
I had a similar happening with my ‘86 T-bird and it was repaired with parts from a salvage yard.
There probably aren’t a lot of MMEs in salvage…….yet.
Bottom line is that it’s up to your insurance.

Yep!

Totalled!

100,000 miles ‘21 is probably worth a bag of chips and a whizzer!

It’s hit it right on the A pillar which looks like it’s gone in, that’s the sort of job a car of this age & mileage just won’t stand.

Probably for the best.

Hope wifey’s OK and don’t experience after effects.

Hope the settlement claim goes well and quick for you.
