My car just crossed over 3 years old, I have not used my extended yet.

Last summer the outside door lock stopped working, so figured I might need to go in, but it self fixed awhile later.

Last week I was getting lots of random reverse camera faults, but that has gone away.

So havent needed it, but glad I have it.

Like Erik, my car just crossed over into the PremiumCare domain, so not yet. Though I did pay for the first-day rental and have used that a few times. But the peace of mind of having the warranty is really great, especially given the high costs of labor in the SF Bay Area.

Oh did I ever, $4,650 repair at month 40 of ownership, and the $2k for a 10 year Ford ESP paid for itself by 2x and still have 6 years of warranty remaining. Repair was for cruise control failure and new isp board, camera and coax cabling.

I know it’s still early, but the above is why ESPs are a windfall for the OEMs.

Having said that, I will likely buy one for the first time in 25+ cars cause I don’t trust the robustness of this science experiment.

When we checked a couple years back ~50% of our forum friends have bought ESPs.

I haven’t had any repair work done on my 21 Job 1 beyond the HVBJB and 2 glass recalls. The car had just been Rick solid for me. I still bought the Ford Extended warranty though before my 3 year factory warranty ran out. It’s not something I’ve ever gone before but I’m comfortable with that as labor and parts are high out here — even by California standards.

In the UK I've had water ingress in the tailgate (taillights needed tightening and sealing), tailgate struts replaced (corroded), new charge port door (sticking), and puddle lamps (image breaking up) all done under the extended warranty. The driver's door latch actuator was replaced under the normal 3 year warranty. Well worth it.

The perfect example of why these are needed. Unfortunately these very expensive, high tech vehicles can be excessively costly to keep running.
I’ve used mine already as well at 28,000 miles and just 37 months for a front camera failure.
Now, just because you get a receipt for $4600+ $ doesn’t mean the actual repair was anywhere near that. Take into account whatever parts are needed would be charged to you at retail even though the dealers get them at wholesale cost usually a 50-100% mark up. The labor charge of $100-200 an hour they charge, of that the dealer also profits approximately half of that.
Im not normally a big proponent of paying for extended warranties because of the high price, but for an EV and no “Right to Repair” we are at the mercy of Ford and the competent (seems not all are) service departments at the dealers. May turn out for many to be relatively cheap insurance to keep them going.

Yes, once so far to have a TSB update. Labour quotes floating around the forum to complete the work were circa $1500, so paying the $100 deductible wasn't so bad. Although full disclosure I had not realised my three years was up based on mileage.

I will also be using it to replace the driver's ActiveX seat material as it is notorious for cracking and mine has in about six places.

Exactly why I bought one - first time ever.

I also don’t drive much, Christian. So I’m mostly interested in extending my years to six, not miles. So the warranty is (like me) very cheap.

Used my wife’s. Parking brake fault at 60K. Wiring harness was covered under TSB, but the electric actuator also went bad. So had that repaired under extended warranty.
