My car has 35,000+ miles and the extended warranty is about to kick in, does it cover EVERYTHING that the original warranty covers?

Depends on the plan that you purchased. You have to look at your specific contract to figure that out.

None of the extended warranties cover the "Electrical Vehicle Powertrain" components. Those are covered under the Federally-mandated 8 year/100K mile warranty and then nothing you can do will cover them short of buying a new car. ??

No, the cheating bar stewards will duck and dive when push comes to shove.

I’m 116,000 miles in with no warranty and prepared to underwrite my own issues.

I feel every penny spent on warranties is a penny wasted.

I never buy it and feel I’m waaaaaaaay ahead on profit.

Anyhow, if it’s for you then it’s your thing?

I have Premicare from Granger, I am 3 months out of warranty and used it the other day. Passanger door would randomly unlock and open while driving/parked/non-stop. I brought it in for that, and mentioned some recent rear camera faults.

I have a $100 deductible on my extended. Ford saw the extended before I mentioned it, replaced the door lock mechanism, and updated the rear camera software. Both issues were covered under the $100. It was a very easy, pleasant experience (aside from my passenger door opening in the middle of a left turn at an intersection)

Wow Stan! If any of my doors flew open while driving I’d likely wet myself before pulling over and running for my life. But it sounds like you took it in stride. Thanks for posting but I hope I don’t see others like it.?

Actually, it doesn't. None of the extended warranties are "bumper-to-bumper". For example, the 12 battery is covered for 36 months / 36,000 miles. Period. That's one easy example, but there are many.

I recently had a surprise: my car had a TSB performed, and I paid the deductible. My car needed the work done, so I am okay with paying $100. In conclusion, TSBs are covered under the extended warranty, but you need to pay your deductible.

It had been doing it non stop from when I got into it, at first every 15min or so, but then increasing rapidly. So I was aware of the issue as soon as I got in, and while driving the wind would keep it latched and closed. But yeah flying open in an intersection, the door was fully extended and I couldnt reach it to reclose, could have been an accident. I then drove straight to the dealer and left it. I havent seen other reports of it but it was VERY concerning. I had 5 kids in the backseat the other day (under 25mph) but if a door flew open I probably would have lost a kid.

2021 Select driver here. First time I ever bought an extended warranty (10 year from Granger for $2k) and it paid for itself and then some, after about nine months, when the self driving and cruise control went out and the repair bill was $4600. I didn’t pay a dime, they didn’t even charge the $100 deductible. Part of the advantage to an extended warranty is that potential problems can only be resolved at the dealer. Where I am located there are no independent shops working on EVs. So I am stuck taking it to the dealer, so having a 10 year warranty makes sense.

5 Kids in the backseat? How do you manage that? Did they have seatbelts on or were they on car seats :)

A bunch of 10 year olds, short trip, I think a 6 year old may have been lying across. The interior is holding up really well after 3.5 years of puppy, little boys and their friends, a quick vacuum and wipe down and it still looks new

Your particular TSB was covered by your service contract, but I don't believe ALL TSBs are covered. For example, there is a TSB providing guidance for correcting a wind noise concern in the side mirror. It's very likely not covered by any extended service contract but is covered during the first 3 years, 36k miles.

And that may be true, I asked first.

The TSB was the front camera coax cable. Without it, lane keeping and Blue Cruise would not work. The repair was approximately the same cost as the ESP so I feel lucky that I bought it.

Right now, the car is having both drive units replaced under the factory drivetrain or EV component warranty
