Anyone know if the $250 EV penalty made it into the final version of the BB bill?

In Washington we pay $150 for the EV and $75 for Transportation Electrification when registering yearly. Thank you oil companies for spending federal subsidies to push and protect your out dated and world damaging products.

That does not sound right. As far as I can tell, 9/30/25 is the expiration date stated in the bill. And an executive order can not amend a statute that has been passed by Congress and signed by the President.
Tell that to the NEVI funding.

Nah, I don't think so, that was some serious whining going on there, actually pretty easy to discern. ? I am on 3 other automotive forums and this one absolutely takes the cake for political whining, complaining and just general hurt feelings, in my opinion.
I’m on other forums too but with my ICE vehicles,my elected representatives are not trying to pork me by trying to kill off an industry that is future-forward and only trying like hell to compete with China. So yeah, this is an EV forum and politics are sadly built into the DNA , along with great advice. The oil money , like tobacco money in past years is buying favor in Washington DC.

Oh, the tobacco money is still buying favor in DC. It’s just a bit less visible.

You're right, I didn't notice they had modified it again.

A statute was passed by Congress and signed by the the President that funded USAID and Trump defunded it by executive order and now it doesn't exist.
And a subsequent court order reversed that defunding….

I didn’t see whining there. I saw a post making fun of the worst case scenarios that people have been spinning about the passage of the bill. Pure sarcasm.

Ok, I get your point now, just wasn't seeing it that way. Happy 4th of July!

Media reported the Senate determined the government didn't have a mechanism to collect the funds and it would cost more than $250 per EV to drop it.

I suspect what really happened was they needed a graceful way to make this go away.
While there still fails to be a direct federal gas tax replacement for EVs (for highway funding that EVs use too), yeah, they don't have the collection mechanism that states do via vehicle registration fees.

I’m glad they didn’t ask me.

The “collection mechanism” is simple- your federal income tax return.

That's nice, but I still have a N. Texas $200 annual fee for EVs. Need to email my representative again...
I suspect many states see the writing on the wall for fading federal gas tax revenue/funding coming their way and are starting to roll the federal gas tax into their EVs fees as well. EV drivers don't pay either the state or federal gas tax, but still use the roads just as much.

State gas tax revenues are fading too. Between ever-increasing MPG, the growth of hybrids/PHEVs/EVs, and lack of inflation adjustments, state and federal gas tax revenues have plummeted. But roads (like everything else) just keep getting more and more expensive to build and maintain.

But the IRS doesn't have access to all the vehicle registration databases to prove that you have an EV. It would just have to rely on people volunteering that information, where of course tons would cheat and avoid the EV fee.

For that very reason, the IRS usually has confirmation systems in place for things that generate more tax liability. It's the deductions that are often trust-based (and even some of those they try to verify).

He didn’t care if it became a law. He just wants to make sure that B2 bomber flew over the exact time he was signing.?
Let’s get that right — it was 2 B2 bombers, each flanked by a pair of F-35 jets.

Being that I did not wanna participate or even think about it, it’s just something I heard them say real quick on the news that whatever was supposed to happen did not happen but thanks for clarifying. I’m sure everybody enjoyed it. It was beautiful.
