My window sticker came in today too...
For lack of any better thing to think I've bought into the idea that the Factory is only open Thursday and Friday this week. It's been a busy evening but I expected to see a lot of messages tonight from people who got their VINs today. The idea that very little changed this evening leads me to believe very few cars are getting built this week as well.
Another person here suggested that the first of the 22s would likely be getting significant scrutiny and supervision as the line starts up for the first time. Thursday makes sense for that too. Many businesses were closed Monday. Engineers in Detroit would perhaps have the option of spending Tuesday in the office before flying down to Mexico city to supervise on Wednesday. Other engineers might fly down Tuesday and have a day to get settled before their 7am start Thursday Morning.
I'll bet there will be a few hand drilled holes here and there for new mounting brackets if the cooling system changed and a little bit of on the fly solutions as they figure out how to build a '22 with leftover major components originally built to 21 spec getting used up before the 22 parts are used.
Either that of the first few days will be all hand picked parts so they can build the cars exactly how they wanted to, and then the last day or two at the factory they work with labor to figure out what components they can re-use, and what gets turned into spare stock.
I have two friends in build week 1/10 as well - they have seen nothing yet.
Let's see what tomorrow brings - maybe modules start populating. Kinda cool to be one of the first of the 22s.
