I just bought the OEM battery from a Ford dealer for $132.50. I seriously doubt the Diehard at more than twice the price and only 5 AH more capacity will have significantly longer life. Even an additional year would not be worth it.

Okay. I was simply responding to the desire to know if there was an aftermarket alternative to the OEM battery. There is.

I’m not advocating anybody buy the alternative.

The sticker price for me was $189. I figured this was standard across dealerships. Did you use points?

Price at Ziegler Ford (Chicago) is supposedly the same as the Ford parts website price:

The price from my dealer here in Athens, AL is $145.75

Rock Auto has it for $105.79 +core. With shipping it's another $15, so we end up at roughly $139.

I'm sure there are variations.

No. Two area dealers both had the battery at that price, too. The $132.50 was after exchange, and plus tax.

This past Friday at 7 am I had to run an errand for about 20 minutes. Came back and parked my MME GT in my garage. At 8:30 am had to go out again, pressed the “start” button but both screen were dead, the brake pedal locked, and the mode dial unresponsive. Plugged in the charger and a loud repeating thumping sound popped up. Went to the bumper to get the”jumping” cables from the port and plugged those to a 12v battery but still no power. Called Ford Road Service which sent two different trucks, and each try to jump start with their batteries to no avail. The car got towed to the dealer, who told me that their efforts to jumpstart it failed as well.
The short of it is that my 12v battery was dead as a doornail and the dealer replaced it with a new one. Luckily for me they replaced it without charge for the battery and tow. The car was 12 days and 5,000 miles away from the end of the three year warranty thus I really lucked out.
Guys and Gals as you get close to 3 years replace the battery, don’t wait. 12v battery death comes without any warning. Even with me paying for it, if I knew what I know now I would have gladly preemptively replaced the battery rather than risking it dying on me in the middle of the night in sub freezing temperatures in the middle of nowhere.
You can bet that I have on my calendar to replace the new battery October of 2027!

DON’T SAY I DIDN’T WARN YOU!!
My car is still in the shop and Ford has now ideal how to fix this. I’ll ask them to try this.

i was in a minor fender bender and my car went into shut down mode. Now the car is asleep and will not wake up. The dealer has had my car for over one month and still have no ideal how to fix it. This sucks. So you have any suggestion?

What is the part number for the LVB? My dealer has 2 different batteries with different part numbers and the same specs And different prices. One is BHAGM-H3. The other is BAGM-H3.

Update: I have confirmed that both batteries have the same specs however the BHAGM has only a 24 month warranty and the BAGM has a 36 month warranty. The BH version is being replaced with the BAGM model which has a 36 month warranty. My dealer still has the older battery on their shelves and was trying to get me to buy that model. I went to foreparts.com and found the new version for $119.00 Plus $18 core charge. It should arrive in 2 days.

My LVB battery does appear to be failing. In the past 3 days sitting in the garage doing nothing it has gone from 93% to 63% State of Charge. Well it is 49 months old so time for me to replace it.

I was told by the parts guy at a Ford dealer that the BAGM-H3 is the updated replacement for the original BHAGM-H3. Other than the part number, the old and new batteries look identical. Well, the older one is dirtier.

I have 49 months on my LVB and it is still going strong. I check it regularly to avoid an unexpected failure. I am expecting failure sometime soon but no signs of that yet.
You took delivery of your Mach-E 49 months ago? November of 2020?

How might 9 months and 26 miles of sitting unloved on a lot before I bought it affect the life over 36 months? It’s at 18 months since new now.

Until now never heard of a 12V battery only lasting three years.
And until now never heard of a 12V battery not being easily accessible.
And until know, recent times, never heard of an auto parts store refusing to install a 12V battery.
(Bolt battery over six years when replaced: not bad, but cold weather now..... thought it a good plan ahead.)
