Makes sense. But would a reading done right as the vehicle is turned on not be informative or does the 12v charge very quickly once power is supplied?
It usually pops on as soon as the car is powered up. ??

Sometimes observations from the outside help the tribe. ;)
Sorry, I don't get it.

So you're saying that it's all quiet, and there are no complaints from other owners of whatever vehicle you do own, on that brand's particular forum website....so you decided to come over to this forum and make observations that amount to letting us all know that we weren't as smart as you are because we bought a Mach-E?

Is that it?

Well, then obviously you're a lot smarter than we are. Gosh. Thanks for pointing that out to all of us here in "this tribe".

According to his profile, he doesn't own a car. Take that into consideration.

I replaced mine on Monday since it's been three years.

I recommend removing the frunk tub on this job and not just slide the battery out from under it. It's not easy to get the positive clamp SECURE on the battery without removing the tub. I thought I had it secure then gave it a quick pull and it wasn't, so I removed the frunk and ensured it was on tight.

I paid about $130 for the battery from my local dealer after asking for a first responder discount. I'm a volunteer firefighter.

Meh. He's not wrong - his priorities didn't line up with what the Mach E offered.

This is one of those things that doesn't matter until it does and it probably won't matter for most owners.

I replaced my Mach E - which never had 12v problems and even warned me with an alert about excessive drain when I left my OBD-II dongle plugged in over night - with a different car that got me twice with a flat 12v within the first year. I didn't care about the tricky access in the Mach E but I sure am glad this new car has a physical key and a battery cover that can be popped and rotated without removing any clips or requiring tools.

So far, though, I think Genesis has more to learn from Ford than the other way around, believe it or not.

If you have been looking 13 years for an EV that is compelling enough for you to replace your current vehicle, and still haven't found such a thing, then I'd suggest finding a low mileage version of the vehicle you have been so happy with all these years, and just do it again!

No, I came to the MME Forum to get a better understanding of the Mach E with the idea of replacing my 4-door sports sedan, which has 400,000+ miles on it. The dealership knew next to nothing about the MME. My thought is the best place to get knowledge on the car was absorb what owners say about it. While any veteran of internet car forums understands most posts are complaint oriented, shifting through such information with a grain of salt, I still find the ownership experience not compelling enough for the adoption commitment.

I started looking at EV in 2013 when my sedan had only accumulated just 225,000 miles and I planned on retiring it at 250,000. My daily commute was 165 miles and in 2003 the only EV that could provide such range was the Model S, but it was $75,000, with little if any Tesla charging infrastructure to support enroute charging. In the winter months it was a no-go due to range loss; leaving a range buffer of just 40 miles was not acceptable.

I think the Mach E has a great exterior design and mostly a good interior design, far better than Tesla's executions. I think the screen is ridiculously over-sized and should be in landscape orientation with better integration with the instrument panel. All automobiles require some design and operation compromise by the prospective purchaser to accept. For me there is just too much to compromise when all added up. The LVB/electromechanical door handle issue is a non-starter for me and exacerbated when I read the tale of a member here whose children were minutes away from heat exhaustion. It is disappointing Ford decided to take styling cues from Tesla and copy its tack-on screen and flush door handle designs. The MME should have fail-safes; it doesn't. At a minimum, adding just a single key lock on the driver's door to be able to gain entry to the MME with a dead LVB would be a simple solution; I mean, the key fob already has a blank key blade in it. My 2022 Bronco has such backup hardware as a fail safe.
Is that 165 miles round trip?

If one way, you have a similar situation as I do. Mine is 145, so my MME has to be charged before (or while) I come home. I hate public charging.

There are a few BEVs that will allow me to commute without public charging. The Rivian R1 is a contender. The Lucid Air GT will definitely do it, but my eye is on the Gravity. The Porsche Tycan can probably do it, as well as the MB S.

It exists, but are you willing to spend the money?

I’m not saying my 2015 ICE mustang battery wasn’t easier to change…but removing the plastic panels and whatnot is easier than finding the long as wrench and hoping I can squeeze my hands enough to replace the batter my on my wife’s Edge.

AutoZone say they will change your battery out for free. They have done it for all my other cars. But I have a feeling when they find out what all needs to be done to change a Maxh-E 12v battery they will laugh and say that's a big NO.

They have said no to changing my wife’s Edge before…all depends on what mood/how busy someone is at the time.
