About 700 miles into my AWD premium which was delivered 11/2021 and all of a sudden the 1PD is less sensitive at braking, requiring me to completely let go of the pedal much earlier to come to a complete stop. I thought I was going crazy but my wife hopped in the drivers seat after a week and immediately noticed it without me mentioning it. We’re both trying to readjust but whisper mode is basically useless for 1pd because you have to let go wayyy early to coast to a stop.

I typically drive in engage but have switched to unbridled which feels more like engage mode, whereas the strongest 1pd braking of unbridled is no where to be found.

I’m going to check to see if there’s been an update recently but I searched the forum and couldn’t find a relevant thread. Wondering if anyone else experienced something like this?

This may be a stupid question, but are you sure that 1PD is still turned on?

Hi there. Will you send us a message with your VIN and dealership info? I can take a look into things on my end.

My 1pd braking is very inconsistent as well, but I've gotten used to it (being inconsistent). There is a spot in the road where I regularly test this. Set the speed to 43, drive in engage mode, and then turn it off (with the cancel button on the wheel) at a specific mark in the road (where the turn lane begins). Sometimes I stop right on the stop line for the light, sometimes a car length before, and sometimes I have to apply brake to make the stop. I still haven't figured out what conditions are causing these changes - it isn't weather.

Long winded way of saying ?‍♂

From my understanding 1PD should act the same in all driving modes. Are you sure the vehicle didn’t just turn off 1pd on you?

I have a similar experience on my end. I don't use 1PD but I do use L to slow down when taking my home exit off the freeway. Same as you, I have speed set on cruise control and then I activate the L button when the road transitions from asphalt to concrete. Sometimes the car comes to nearly a complete stop at the stop light, sometimes it is a car length early or sometimes I have to apply more brakes.

It is not, Unbridled mode is the strongest and you can definitely tell.
Interesting, I’ve never noticed a 1PD regen difference aside from the regular inconsistencies. I can tell there’s definitely an accelerator, steering, and 2PD regen difference though.

Thanks for the quick reply Ford, DM’d my VIN. Still interested in knowing if anyone else is having similar issues. Thanks for the testimonies thus far.

I have noticed a bit less powerful braking toward the start of my driving as the weather has gotten colder. My friend owns a Tesla and said his 1PD basically shuts off in very cold weather until the battery warms up a bit and can take in the charge from the regen. I wonder if the Mach E undergoes something similar?

I haven’t heard of anyone experiencing that in cold weather yet. The weather here has been in the 70s since my issues started.

Know that reduced regen is a universal condition of EV operation in a cold environment, until the pack temp increases. While this may not be what you are experiencing currently, it is a very common occurrence.

2022 Mach E AWD ER
Country flag
I've had a MME 2022 AWD ER for one month now and noticed the same thing. I always drive with 1PD around the city and started in Whisper and got used to the deceleration when I pull off the accelerator, then noticed it wasn't slowing down as fast as I expected and switched to Engage where it seemed more normal for a week or two. Now I am starting to feel that engage is not decelerating as quickly as it did before either.

Anyone know what's going on here?
Subconscious muscle memory?
Ambient temperature going from around 0 Celsius to 10 Celsius?
My battery is typically between 50% and 80% charge.

I rather not switch to Unbridled just yet.
BTW - Does L do anything when driving in 1PD? Will it change the deceleration rate?

Thanks

L does not function in 1PD. It could just depend on your grade, making it slow down slower. If I'm on an even slight decline, 1PD is less "brake-y."
