It's when the car says low battery it informs CarPlay it is low. It does the same thing in a gas car when the gas light comes on.
So yesterday it thought I was low at 89% ;). My car had been down below 25% in the orange zone two days before. Given how slow Fordpass notifications have always been for me I shouldn't be surprised with a 48 hour lag.

The Low EV Battery notification in CarPlay has been there for 3 years. Had a friend with an all electric Focus that had this but it only notified him when the battery was 10% or less.

In both of my Mach-E's (Job 1 and Job 2) It notifies me at the same time the car notifies me when the EV battery is less than 25 miles (have the car set to that). It has worked since March of last year when I got Job 1 Mach-E. In my iPhone I set the notification to be persistent. It has worked flawlessly so far.

Where do you set the notification to be persistent?

I've heard this feature was in Sync3 as well, but one of the updates broke it at some point. Cool that it's working again on sync4.

It worked on Sync 3 fine for me fairly recently unless it was recently broken.

I got 2.3.0 last week. This notification just popped up for me. Never seen this one before.

I also seem to have encountered a bug with cruise control randomly enabling? I’ve been driving this car for 7 months now, so it’s not me being confused. Twice today while slowing down using OPD, cruise control engaged and it started accelerating. I noticed in the release notes there were some changes related to cruise. Didn’t know if anyone had seen this.
I've had this happen to me when using 1 pd mode and it seems to pick up cruise again

Android user here. I had no idea this was a thing. Seems like a pretty useless feature since you're already in the car and the car already tells you that information....

But I'm still feeling fomo ?

Also I'll add myself to accidental cruise club.. only happened once or twice, but that was my exact experience: 1pd and the car wasn't slowing as expected, and cruise is on without me realizing. For me usually after a corner where I brushed the button

It is not completely useless though. While driving, when the Mach-E pops up the notification in the driver's display that the EV battery is low, you also get a Low EV Battery banner that pops up across Apple CarPlay no matter what app you are on. If you touch that banner CarPlay instantly goes to Maps and displays a list of the closest charging stations.

Where do you set the notification to be persistent?
Settings > Notifications > Maps
Turn on "Time Sensitive Notification"
Banner Style choose "Persistent"
Show in CarPlay "On" (if you also want a banner to show in CarPlay)

Or alternately, when the banner does show up on your phone's lock screen, just swipe left, choose options and you can select it there.

I got my first Low EV Battery notification ever last week. I was >70%.
I also have encountered another bug related to 2.3.0. 2-3 times now, when my parking sensors activate, instead of the camera coming on, I get a cartoon car image showing which sensors are activated. I never had that happen before, The first was after 2.3.0 failed, and the other time or two were after it succeeded.

Yeah I get the car outline instead of cameras sometimes too even way before I got any updates, I feel it’s intentional under certain circumstances or possibly could be a bug that hasn’t been fixed yet.

I think I may have found the culprit in relation to this bug, but I wanted to see if others’ experiences were the same.

On Sunday nights, I charge to 100% because I have a long commute on Monday to the office (35 miles), then drive to school to teach (another 30 miles), and then 65 miles back home again. I know I could fit it fine into my regular 90% charge, but I like having the extra buffer “just in case.”

When I pull into the parking garage at the university, and put the MME into park, I get a message from SYNC (definitely a Ford message) that I won’t be able to get to 100% charge (which is strange to care about since I set a max of 90% at home, but whatever) with my charging settings before my scheduled morning departure. Now, I’m sitting on like 71% battery at the time, but the MME has made the decision that given the elements and my typical driving style (somewhere between moderate and grandma), that when I get back home from being so far away, plug in, and charge, that the MME won’t be at full by the time I’ve told preconditioning that I’m going to depart. I allow charging anytime since I don’t have timed rates, but it was counting the hours that my charging takes and said, “Nah, son. Not gonna make it to where you want to be in time.”

Shortly thereafter, I’ll get a notice from Apple Maps on my phone telling me that I’m at 71% and that I need to find a charger.

What I think is happening is that the handshake between the Mach-E and CarPlay that carries this information is being misinterpreted. Instead of CarPlay understanding that if I don’t plug in now, I won’t reach my ideal charge by tomorrow morning, it just hears “plug in now” and displays what we perceive as an incorrect error message. Yes, it’s incorrect as it’s worded, but it did receive a warning about a low battery potential condition and interpreted it as a current low battery condition.

Is this similar to what others are seeing when CarPlay begs you to plug when your battery is fine? Are you far away from home and/or won’t be able to get to the top-end of the charge window with your charge/precondition times by the time you get home?

I think this feature as been there for a while, at least on Job 2 cars. I do not think it has anything to do with the recent fordpass or Apple updates. It is part of the current Job 1 car OTA's as noted 2.3.0.

When I first got my Job 2 in November, I did a bluecruise and range test for 200 miles. I had not adjusted all the settings and my low battery alarm was incorrectly set to 50 miles. When I hit 50 miles, on the freeway, my Apple maps came up on the screen and the available chargers were all shown. I was not using NAV or Apple maps at the time, I was connected through Carplay though.

I like that feature, but I wish they had the full Carplay EV integration. They do not......yet

FWIW this is how the CarPlay Apple Maps integration with EVs is supposed to work, but have never seen it: https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/set-up-electric-vehicle-routing-iphc5e3a4b4b/ios
I have spent considerable time trying to setup this CarPlay and electric vehicle routing in Maps recently, with absolutely no luck. I have used that guide and cannot set up the EV routing.

I have latest FP and iPhone is up to date. Has anyone had success? Tips beyond the Apple instructions, please??
