If you're on iOS 16.5 you may want to remove the vehicle from Maps and re-add it to clear any bad data out. I'm on iOS 17 beta and haven't had the issue at all. (Though definitely other bugs in CarPlay.) However when I was on iOS 16.5 I didn't really have issues, and iOS 16.6 betas I didn't have them almost at all. 16.6 should be out in a few weeks here, otherwise definitely removing the vehicle and re-adding it will help fix things up too.

This is just annoying. Apple thinks my MUstang Mach E battery is low when it’s over 80% ?‍♂ I get this all the time ?

The Mach E was the first car to get this feature. You could have a real bug. Contact Apple, their support is really good.

Do you actually know what the split is in Mach E owners between Apple and Android?
1) I'm sure, at least in the early adopters, heavily skewed to fruit phones.

2) The question was "are you saying all people will randomly get these erroneous notifications when their phone isn’t connected to the vehicle via CarPlay?" The answer is "no, Android users don't get annoying fruit notifications".

I refer to Apple products as "fruit" because I attempt to deride the company without people noticing... Oops, there I go spilling the beans.

Been 100% IBM-compatible and Android forever. Don't own a single Apple product, nor do either of my sons. Unfortunately, my son married a woman who uses an Apple phone, as does their teenage daughter. We've taken steps to limit their inheritance.

During the pandemic, my wife's school gave her a really old fruit laptop with no battery life to try and teach remotely. She asked me for help, and I said "I connected you to two monitors, call your IT department, I don't do fruit".

Same here. I just put up with it. Random notifications from damaged or poorly-maintained algorithms is the 21st century version of the dadaism art or absurdist philosophy of 100 years ago.

FWIW, I use apple maps for most of my navigational needs, unless I'm headed for a DC charger and want to initiate pre-charge battery conditioning.

I used to get this *all* the time. At some point, it went away, except when I really did need to charge. I got one notification about it this week, which surprised me since it seemed to have been fixed. Out of curiousity, do you use PaaK or the fob? I almost always use PaaK, but thought I might have use for the frunk on a trip this week so brought my Lightning fob. I think, but I'm not 100% sure, that was the day I got the low EV battery warning.

I haven't encountered that message, but have sometimes received one saying the range may not be accurate because it hasn't been connected in a while. I think some of the suggestions of removing and adding the vehicle or just turning off the Apple Maps integration for now may be good.

I wonder, while your vehicle was over 80% at the time you took that screenshot, do you by chance arrive home often at a lower state of charge? As others said, Apple Maps only gets an update with the state of the vehicles charge when connected to the vehicle. So if you get home at 10% and then plug it in and go inside, your phone has no clue what your vehicles SoC is until you connect again.

Anyway, good luck, that would be kind of annoying. But I am glad Apple has added the integration, ended up using apple maps instead of GMaps or ABRP because it did a great job on our longer trip and the live updating SoC and all that was nice to have.

So, yes I understand it's annoying. But there is a reason it's happening. The App does NOT hand the better data to the vehicle. It can only share data when the vehicle is connected via CarPlay. The numbers can get very off if you don't always use CarPlay.

I rarely get this notification, but definitely have when the battery wasn't low. Reconnecting the phone resolves the issue.

Bluetooth connections don't data share like CarPlay does since the Wifi connection has more bandwidth to handoff more data. So it doesn't matter if your connected to bluetooth. If you don't use CarPlay on trips, then I would suggest removing the vehicle in Apple Maps to disconnect the EV routing features.
Same. Good info.

Never had any issues with 16.5 or earlier versions. The only time I had this message pop up was when my MME’s battery was low. I find Apple Maps to be very accurate in keeping the SoC synced as well as predicting DoC upon arrival.

I got the low EV notification last night and I'm on iOS 16.5.

I notice it happens when the phone connects in accessory mode or after the car is shut off. The battery level seems to only be available to iOS while the ignition is on, and the car will return a zero value when polled at other times.

Probably the module isn’t active in accessory Mode that talks with iOS. In either case, if the issue happened in iOS 16.4, I’d remove the vehicle from maps and re-add it to see if the issue persists.

Wow, I feel bad for your daughter-in-law having to put up with you.
