It's slapped on the side of the rear motor. Someone posted a video of a techer tearing one down to show how they work, and the differences in front and back with the extras on it. I'll rummage around for the vid...

Found it.

You know, someone posted that somewhere else, and I watched it, thought it was really interesting, but did not remember about the parking pawl! (yes, age-related short term memory...?) Thanks for the reminder!

So, I see no reason to have the PB automatically apply, given this "traditional" set up, especially since it's on the same axle! Unless they are both so weak that neither one is sufficient by itself, but that doesn't make a lot of sense either....?

There's a lot I park in a couple times a week that I never considered the slope (it's slight enough to not really notice), but I recently got this car and the first couple times I parked there I heard a thunk that sounded like a parking prawl, which made me notice the slight slope. I had also just read a thread where someone had to replace theirs after it froze in place.

Fortunately another thread popped up about the break pads sticking when parked wet, and it had been wet here. So I made sure the brakes were dry the next time I parked there, and no more thunk.

I would probably notice if I drove it more, but it's wifey's car, I've only driven it a few times, and was paying attention to other more important things... ? But since we live in hill country, we're used to always manually applying the PB anyway....

I read that there is a TSB on sticking brakes. Google it but didn't find it. Does someone have a link to it?
