I’m talking the cables in the car, to the battery from the charge port.. It’s going to be a limiting factor if they step up to 200 amp via NACS. I’m thinking the fan blowing on the back of the port isn’t enough.

And the Mach-E could have had a totally new design for all of it's systems, take the cooling system for example having too many parts as Sandy points out. But instead Ford took off the shelf parts and made it work.

I would venture that the second gen 2025 EV model has already passed the engineering development phases with the CCS port designed in, well before the agreement with Tesla was in place. It would be faster to add a NACS port than to start the engineering all over again and delay the whole project.

With charging providers supporting both CCS and NACS, having both CCS and NACS ports on the vehicle gives the customer charging flexibility without the need for adaptors.

Ford never said the 25 BEV would be only NACS, only that it would have a native NACS port. Maybe future vehicles in '26 or '27 could have only NACS. But I'd bet the for the first vehicle Ford hedges and puts on both ports.

If there was a poll I'd vote for 2025 dual ports!

Big question does 2024 model have better technology, range, new features etc?

They only just started building 2023 Job 2 cars. Specs for the 2024 model aren't likely to be released for at least a month or two, and they won't go into production probably until late November.

The cabling on the inside end of the charge port to the battery are not the limiting factor of charging speed. It's the bus bar overheating because it's undersized. Why on earth Ford didn't use a beefier bus bar is mind boggling.

Well, not buying the first year of a vehicle is nothing new. But, in this case, we're in year 3 of the Mach-E. Nothing has changed as far as charging, and won't until 2025, so would you skip 4 years?

Based on where Model e is headed, and Ford's focus on continually evolving the design as the vehicle is produced, you won't ever be buying a Ford again...

I bought the 2021 Mach-E knowing the risks, and was "rewarded" with the issues that I expected to have. I pushed the dealership, I pushed Ford, and they reacted appropriately.

Me - I want Ford to be successful against the competitors, especially Telsa, and will continue to buy leading edge vehicles, with issues. Hopefully, as time goes on, they will get better and better at new technology.

until Ford gets their highest in industry warranty costs down I just don’t see it. CEO keeps saying they will and hope he can do it. I don’t want any company to fail. They need a culture change. Not so easy.

The bus bars don't overheat from charging. The whole system is limited to 1c charge rate for the most part. The bus bar issues are from driving the car. Adding NACS will only barely shut us up by opening the infrastructure. But they still won't be able to charge over 1c without significant cabling updates. If the '25 comes with a 90kW battery, 1c is still 90kW. Whilst other cars are at least 'possible' able to charge at 250~350kW. If we're still kneecapped with ~100kW charging it's not going to sell well.

on current teslas, it is a formed solid aluminum conductor without any cooling. here is an ebay listing for a model 3 replacement. since the tesla port uses the same pins for AC and DC there is some more contactor switching before it gets to the on-board or off-board charger connections.

Interesting. Then what's the point of the liquid cooled cables/handles in the SuperChargers if it terminates at the plug connection.
