2025/2026 mach-e vs. ? (next EV)

The right answer is less clear to me. To purchase my 2021 GT, I'll have to pay ~$23,000 next year. But if I let it go and buy a new GT (Rally Edition is the one I like), MSRP is $62,000. That's a LOT of extra money to spend for a car that's really pretty similar to what I'm already driving. Sure, it's newer and better. But $39,000 better? That's hard to swallow.

This doesn’t even sound like a difficult decision.

The harder decision would be handing it back in and finding another MME for less than 23k. I might also look at what Tesla Model S or X are going for. Distraught owners are unloading excellent cars at stupid discounts right now lol.

the 24GT has a few annoying downgrades, just dumb stuff like no more rear hatch button (you use the button that opens the hatch to close it as well) and the rocker panel covers no longer have a nice plate that says "GT" anymore, just an embossed plastic thing that says "mustang". also these cars don't come with BlueCruise so i'll have to pay for that if i want it. the suspension on the 24 seems a lot tighter and i hope that's not just because the 23 is already worn out (meaning the 24 will become the same way after a while.) they changed the turn signals on the front as well, they are also cheaper/simpler.

I fixed the left side lift gate switch thing by following Mark’s lead. I also replaced the scuff plates with GT scuff plates from a wrecked ‘21. ??

The suspension on my 2024 seems more compliant than the suspension on my 2021 GT-PE. Not sure why your 2024 seems stiffer than your 2023. ?‍?

Ford changed the headlights on the 2024s to the new “Tri-Bar Headlights” for all trims. Personally, I like the older GT/Premium headlights better, but the Tri-Bar isn’t bad. ??

I am leaning toward keeping the old one.

I would not be looking for a new Mustang for under $23k, I'd be looking for a much newer, significantly more expensive one, with a less bone-rattling suspension to reduce passenger complaints. I'll see what kind of a deal is available in October, but I am expecting a new MME will probably be too expensive to be worth it to me.

well, it’s hard to describe. the 23 had a vdm failure and after that was replaced it never seemed right to me. it’s still somewhat underdamped and so feels loose. it oscillates a couple times after going over a bump on the freeway, for instance. the 24 is stiffer but appropriately so. i prefer the ride on the 24.

I own and plan to hang onto my car for awhile. I still enjoy driving it every time I get in. But I have a deposit (reservation?) on a Scout with that in mind as my next EV. We'll see.
