You can buy the interior protection package / floor mats at any time, you don't need to include it in the order. The part dept at the dealer can order them or Ford parts. You may find some aftermarket mats like weathertech or tuxmat more to your liking.

They’ve moved the trunk cargo cover thing into to interior protection package so if you want that you’ll have to get the package. Ford doesn’t seem to make that easily available as an accessory. Otherwise you’ll have to try and buy the cover from parts department for like $300+.

Nobody's seen what the molten magenta looks like, but if the color sample on the shop ford website is reasonably accurate, I think it's going to be closer to dark cherry than the previous red color. I'm sort of in the same boat as I have a red 2018 Tesla that I want to replace. At first I wasn't sure I wanted to order a molten magenta Mach E, thinking I don't want two cars in a row to be red. But the only other color I'm interested in is Grabber Yellow, and although I like it, I think it's really only appropriate for the GTPE or Rally models. So now I'm back to molten magenta!

You can see Molten Magenta Metallic on the '25 ICE Mustang and those have been hitting dealerships for a month or two now. Have not seen one in person, but there are a couple decent videos online. I'm not particularly fond of red vehicles, but the wife picked the Molten Magenta for our Mach-E and seeing various pictures/ videos so far, I think it will be a great color. It is a somewhat dark magenta, so it definitely has that pinky purple tone and it's a paint that definitely changes dynamically with the lighting conditions.

Thanks for the videos. I think the Molten Magenta is stunning, but the main reason I would pick it is that I'm not crazy about any of the other 2025 colors available. If the Velocity Blue Metallic was 2 or 3 shades darker, I would probably go with that. And I don't want to do a wrap.

I agree. Ford keeps taking away all the good colors on many of their vehicles. 2025 color selection for the Mach-E, Lightning and a few others, is really sad and boring. Looking at the '25 color palette, the only two I would consider are the Molten Magenta and Glacier Gray. I wanted to like Eruption Green when they announced it a few years back for the Bronco but it's like Christmas Tree Green or something, I'm just not liking it...

I do not work for Ford, but I do live in Dearborn and know a ton of people at Ford (most of whom are retired these days) and they gave me the inside info on how build scheduling is done.

Cars get organized into a build order based on options. For example… back when sunroofs were popular, it took two workers who had to ride with the car for 3 assembly line stations to do the install. This meant that it is not possible to have to back-to-back cars being built that both have sunroofs (they have to be spaced out at least every 3 cars.)

In the auto industry, this process of scheduling the build order is called blending.

Once a car is blended, you cannot change ANYTHING … they’d would have to pull that car out of the order and re-blend it for a later date (behind everything that has already been blended). So yes … a change would definitely delay your order.

To give you an idea of how strict they are about this …

I built my order online for my First Edition and I added the “Interior Protection Package” - that’s the front & back seat floor mats as well as the cargo mat. It was on the order.

BUT … that’s not the REAL order … that’s something that is sent to the dealer who has to accept the order and re-enter it (only dealers can order cars — when a consumer makes an online order it just configures what they want and sends it to a dealer). When they entered the order, they forgot the floor mat package.

When I finally got the window sticker preview, I noticed the Interior Protection Package was missing. I asked if they could add it to the order (you can also order these from the parts dept. but it costs more from the dealer than a factory order.)

The plant doesn’t actually “install” floor mats. They get tossed in the back of the car only at the very end of the assembly process just as the car is about to exit the build. So I’m thinking … since this doesn’t change ANYTHING about the build order, maybe they can do it.

Nope … the dealer tried to see if … since they didn’t change anything about the car itself … and the answer from Ford was no. You CANNOT CHANGE ANYTHING once a car is “blended” for build.

I’ve always “negotiated” the rubber floor mats “for free”, even with X-Plan. In reality, my dealer has always just grabbed them from parts or ordered them from parts. Now that Ford deletes the carpeted mats if you order the interior protection package, it makes even more sense to go the parts route.

I got to see the '25 mache in molten magenta at the Chicago auto show last month. FWIW I thought it looked really good in the color. Of course, I ordered white!

Were you able to negotiate a deal at the auto show, or did you purchase outside of the show? I'm in Dallas and there are 5 Ford dealerships within 30 minutes of me, and none of them are making any kind of deals on the Mach E. One sales guy even told me they had orders from corporate. They're not even offering the $7500 incentive to mitigate the loss of the EV tax credit, even though it remains on the shop ford website.

So, at least at the Chicago Auto show, only manufacturer reps are there. They do not have any type of retail operations. But I did ask the guy if they offer any kind of bonus cash or similar for anyone who comes to the show. Nothing. I bought from a local dealer.
